Isolation of Öcalan means a war and lack of solution

Isolation of Öcalan means a war and lack of solution

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Yüksekdağ defined the isolation of Öcalan as an intervention that could turn politics in Turkey upside down and stated that the political power has pushed the button for chaos by implementing this isolation.

“Isolating Mr. Öcalan means a war against the peoples, a lack of solution, an increase in anti-democratic impositions and reverting back from even the tiniest democratic gains,” said Yüksekdağ and called for an immediate return to negotiations.

Speaking to the ANF before April 5, the 1 year anniversary of the aggravated isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, HDP co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ stated that the isolation on Öcalan is not separate from AKP’s concept of war.

Yüksekdağ, stressing that looking at the current situation of the country is enough to understand what the one year isolation of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan means, said “The isolation of Mr. Öcalan is not just the isolation of a political prisoner, it is an intervention that could turn politics in Turkey upside down.”

Pointing out that the political power has systemically pulled the trigger on war in Turkey since the isolation began, Yüksekdağ stated the isolation of Öcalan was not separate from AKP’s concept of war. Stating that the button was pushed for chaos with the isolation imposed one year ago, Yüksekdağ pointed out that the AKP rule prepared this policy long before the elections of June 7 and turned the chaos into reality after the election results. Pointing out that the “collapse plan” prepared by the Undersecretary of Public Order and Security in 2014 is the biggest sign of this, HDP co-chair continued; “AKP actually made an annihilation and chaos plan against the Kurdish movement and the Kurdish people while the talks were still going on, before the table was turned on the solution. Thus, the plan would not have changed regardless of the outcome of the June 7 elections. They would have started this period of chaos and war in Turkey in any case.”

“CHAOS WON’T END AS LONG AS THE ISOLATION CONTINUES”

Considering the exclusion of Öcalan from the process since April 5, 2015 and ending of the peace process to be a breaking point in politics in Turkey, Yüksekdağ stressed that “Isolating Mr. Öcalan means a war against the peoples, a lack of solution, an increase in antidemocratic impositions and reverting back from even the tiniest democratic gains.”

Yüksekdağ pointed out that the chaos would not end as long as this isolation continued and said “We see the isolation of Mr. Öcalan as a political problem. Today it is vital to end the isolation and to return to the solution table.”

Yüksekdağ said hundreds of people had lost their lives since April 5 and said “These deaths are all results of the peace table being overturned. This is why it is necessary to end the isolation and set up the negotiations table in order for the achievement of a permanent peace to stop the deaths.”
