here is one thing .

I see one of Roj bash users, keeps using the word mongol for Turks,
it is true that Turks come from the same region with mongols, and they are ethnically associated, but I know many good mongolian friends, one of them is actually a big friend of Kurds and a contributor of Roj Bash .

do you think it is offensive to call Turks mongols ? (offensive to both , may be monogls dont want to be compared with Turks and vice versa)
should we ask our fellow RBK user not to use that term ?

finally someone is pointing this out. It sounds very childish into my ears if I hear such terms like "mongolian" used for Turks.

Dont you guys think for a second this might be insulting for real Mongols?

As far as I know Turks are not Mongols :D

And, in my opinion, they deserve more respect than the weak minded, savage Turks who believe all the evil lies that the Turkish government has told them about Kurds X(

I write savage Turks because I have seen the photos of the SHOCKING DISRESPECTFUL way they treat Kurdish people they have killed. I expect many of you here have seen photos of laughing Turkish soldiers holding up the heads of those they have murdered. Do not forget the photo of the Turk urinating on the dead Kurd X(

I would NEVER insult a Mongol by referring to him as a Turk

one of our previous moderators and friend of Kurds is mongol , I have other mongol friends, they have nothing to do with Turkish government, I think you guys who call Turks Mnogols, should stop doing that for another reason too :

lots of americans and europeans who read our forums, dont know you guys are reffering to Turkish government, so when you say Kurds in hunger strike in mongolian death cmaps, they wouldnt know you mean in Turkey .

so I think it is childish and I think we should warn the community not to use that term anymore.

We should not be offensive toward mongols. I also heard that Mongolia was one of the only countries which wanted to support an independent Kurdistan in the past. Maybe we should just call them TURKS, Turk in it self is an insult many places in the world.

I only call them mongol turk because it will piss them off :-D And to show that they don't belong in the Middle east.

Now with that being said, i also think we should start to referring to them as turks only, but it gets hard when they kill kurdish civillians everyday X(

Agree ! They should be called what they are , they are Turks . and the crimes their government and their nationalist have done should be for them, not for mongols !

As Kak Kurdistano said it is childish to call them "Mongols", firstly because they put simply aren't. It would be more insulting to call them Mongrels, as Turkic are orginally Turanids, half mongoloid and half caucasoid.

Frankly, a ver small minority of Turks can be traced back to Mongolia. So it is inappropiate, provocative and wrong to call Turks ''Mongolian''. I believe only around 5% of the Turkish population have Asian traits left appearances. Turks are mostly a mixture of Greeks, Kurds, Armenians, Arabs and a various of Balkanic and Caucassian people.

Turks aren't Mongols, they are Turanids.

I think it's because many people saw the Mongols as savages. The Mongols conquered much of Asia and Eastern Europe. And the conquest was not friendly. But I agree, they should be called Turks, because that's what they are.
