My Kurdistan is The Kurdish Project’s new effort to educate the world about the Kurdish regions and share the stories of the people living in the Kurdish regions.
We’re asking students in Kurdistan to share their stories so the world can get a better understanding of what it’s like to live in the Kurdish regions in today’s world.
Contest Background
At an estimated population of 30 million, Kurds have struggled to achieve worldwide recognition for decades.
Today, even as the people living in the Kurdish regions have stepped up to defend parts of Iraq and Syria against ISIS, the world remains undereducated about the Kurdish people. With the My Kurdistan story contest, The Kurdish Project hopes that the stories and experiences shared directly by people living in the Kurdish regions will bring to life their beautiful customs and brave perseverance against all odds.
