Kurdish Man proves being visually impaired does not mean mentally impaired

He has established the station to engage the other visually impaired individuals in more exciting and productive activities

Physically disabled people usually cannot lead a normal life like everyone else, and they are often neglected by their communities, particularly visually impaired individuals who always need help from others, but they receive very little care and attention from the society.

To bring back hope to his fellow blind citizens, a visually disabled Kurdish man has established a radio station to help them spend interesting time listening to the radio or working at the station.

Haval Ismail, known as Haval Nabina, a Kurdish visually disabled man, told BasNews that he felt the need of creating something in his hometown, Garmiyan district in Kurdistan Region, to keep the visually impaired people busy doing something engaging and beneficial.

"Our radio station started broadcasting on May 16, 2015, and ever since it has been broadcasting everyday from 7:00 AM up to 8:00 PM" Haval said.

"Most of our programs are designed for visually impaired people, and some programs are presented live by visually disabled individuals" he said.

Haval pointed out that their technical devices are simple and they still lack some essential devices.

He called on local companies and rich people to help them improve the station in order to expand its broadcast to reach out to the whole area where there are over 700 visually impaired people.
