‘Salute to Peshmerga’ film, story of foreign reporter
The Kurdish film ‘Salute to Peshmerga’ will be screened soon in the Kurdistan Region and international cinemas abroad
said the director of the film on Saturday.

In an interview with Kurdistan24, Ahmad Rambo, the director of the film, stated that the production is in its last stages.
“The film is in the montage phase,” Rambo said. “It will be screened in the coming months in Kurdistan and other countries.”
The film follows the story of a foreign reporter who accompanies Peshmerga forces on mountains in a cold winter to report on the Kurdish national movement against the former dictatorship of Iraq.
In the film, the federal government of Iraq is informed about the reporter and attacks the Kurdish area to arrest her. However, Peshmerga forces protect her and find a corridor to send her safely out of the Kurdistan Region through the Turkish border.
“I wrote the script for the film. The scenario is by Sa’eed Mahmoud and directed by Hassan Ali,” Rambo added.
He also noted that both German actress Leonie Zeumer and Arab Actor Shamam al-Hassan play the main acting roles in the film.
“I would like to express my appreciation to the Interior Ministry of the Kurdistan Region, Erbil Governor and Peshmerga forces for contributing in creating this film,” Rambo concluded.
Peshmerga forces spent decades fighting against different oppresive governments in Iraq in the last century to obtain Kurdish rights and autonomy in the Kurdistan Region.
After the emergence of the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq on June 2014, Peshmerga has been one of the most efficient ground forces in the battle against the insurgents, sharing over 1,000 km (622 miles) of its border with IS.
