Has Murat Karayilan Been Assassinated

Some Turkish media outlets have claimed that a senior Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) official Murat Karayilan has been assassinated by the Turkish special forces

On Thursday, May 26th, several Turkish media outlets reported that a group of Turkish special forces’ commandos, know as ‘Bordo Bereli’, have carried out an operation in Qandil mountainous areas and killed Murat Karayilan, the leader of the military wing of PKK.

A source from PKK, who spoke on restrict condition of anonymity, rejected the reports and told BasNews that these rumors aim to damage the morale of Peoples’ Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas —an armed wing of PKK.

“There is no truth to the reports, and Karayilan is not assassinated,” said the source.

BasNews has learned from other sources that PKK's policy is to keep its own guerrillas and the public in the dark about the death of PKK leaders and senior officials.

If it were true it, would explain why Turkey has increased the number of Kurdish towns under curfew

If it is true, I guess that Cemil Bayik opens willingly the way to Turkish commando and led them until Karayilan's bedroom. And if not Bayik, Duran Kalkan did it.

I was thinking exactly the same thing X(

Murat's trouble goes back to the time when he was not happy with Ocalan's peace plan and wanted to send his own representative to visit Ocalan

Murat's requests were refused and he lost his position as leader of PKK, a position he had held since Ocalan was arrested

After much searching - many media sites deny Murat's death

However there has been no 'proof of life' from Murat Karayilan himself - very worrying :-s

Supposedly the Turkish special forces’ commandos, know as ‘Bordo Bereli, carried out a raid on Kandil in which Murat Karayilan was killed

This news was spread across many Turkish media sights and mostly ignored by PKK, who were extremely slow to come up with a denial

The situation remains unclear as there has been no explanation as to why TSK would claim to have killed such a high profile PKK official as Murat Karayilan

Such a claim is hardly something that could remain unsubstantiated over a long period of time

The PKK’s policy of keeping its own guerrillas and the public in the dark about the death of PKK leaders and senior officials will do nothing to quell speculation

Unconfirmed but probably true report:

Mobile phones have been banned in PKK camps :-s

After intensive Turkish air campaign on Kandil 4 days ago PKK has been very worried

Number of guards on leaders was increased and use of all mobile phones in camps has been banned

Nobody has been allowed out at night and since then camps are on strict security measures

Murat Karayilan, Cemil Bayik, Duran Kalkan, Mustafa Karasu and Ali Haydar cannot leave their bunkers during the daylight hours, if at all

Due to airstrikes protection shields around of PKK officials Karayilan and others in the Gare and Zap camps has been greatly increased

As all PKK camps are under strict security measures banning the use of mobile phones so no more information likely for some time

As these air strikes have been almost unprecedented in their severity, it is not entirely illogical to wonder if they could have been used as a cover for Turkish special forces activities on the ground

It is impossible for any unfriendly force to reach him. If he is dead, he must have died from natural causes or became the victim of a random air raid.

With everyone remaining underground, it is entirely possible that people as well as bombs were dropped on the camps

It would explain why the air-raids have been so severe

Some years ago, PKK leaders fought each others, and even shot : Osman Öcalan was even slightly wounded. Perhaps there is a "friendly" general shot within the Council of Presidency. Their common leadership seems a bit messy, sometimes.

WE remember those days when the party split and people vanished - not good times

My friend Mizgin Sen was one of those who vanished because she wanted to continue the fight for independence :((

I do NOT think it would be a good idea to 'phone a friend' and ask what is happening :ymdevil:

I have found several other site that confirm the severe attacks on Kandil and the camps being isolated with phones being cut off

Still no confirmation as to what has happened to my hero Murat Karayilan :((

Even if he has become a martyr nothing will stop Kurds fighting Nazi Turks. We don't have only one Murat Karayilan. We have thousands of Murat Karayilans.
