KOBANI, Syria - Drought and lack of work have left many residents of Kobani with little choice but to scavenge the ruins of the town for materials to sell or to use to rebuild their homes.
Kobani was largely destroyed during the fierce battle to liberate the city from the Islamic State in late 2014- early 2015.
Many residents of Kobani were traditionally farmers but a drought has left them without the money to rebuild, so they have turned to digging through the rubble for reusable materials, necessary to reconstruct their community.
