Newroz poem by Piramerd

For many years, the flower of our hopes was downtrodden

The fresh rose of spring was the blood of the youth

It was that red colour on the high horizon of Kurd

Which was carrying the happy tidings of dawn to remote and near nations

It was Newroz which imbued the hearts with such a fire

That made the youth receive death with devoted love

Hooray! The sun is shining from the high mountains of homeland

It is the blood of our martyrs which the horizon reflects

It has never happened in the history of any nation

To have the breasts of girls as shields against bullets

Nay. It is not worth crying and mourning for the martyrs of homeland

They die not. They live on in the heart of the nation

Poem for Barzani by Sertip Hamid Zangana

You are the root of our soil,
The rain of our flowers,
The sunshine of our hope.

You are the window of our dreams,
The spirit in our soles,
The warrior of our path.

You are the breath of our lungs,
The blood of our veins,
The sweat of our pain.

You are the wings of our freedom,
The fire of Nawroz,
The ICON of Kurdistan.

You are Barzani.

My Song poem by Sertip Hamid Zangana

I have been in your shadows for too long. So,
Please unlock my heart Iraq.
Please untie my roots Iran.
Please unlock my spirit Syria.
Please untie my throat Turkey.

I have sung loudly for too long. But,
You have not listened to me America.
You have not listened to me Britain.
You have not listened to me the rest of you Europeans.
You have not listened to me World.

I am many but one.
And even without your help World, I will Attack, soon.
I will slowly put myself back together.

My illuminating Name will rise above your ever-weakening shadows,
Iraq, Iran, Syria and turkey.
You will see My Name, America, Britain and the rest of you Europeans,

And you will see My Name shining within you, World
And you will finally be filled.
Meanwhile, I am hidden from you and you are empty
and you know it is wrong, world.

SIRIUS! by Abdulla Goran

In the night, traveling memories like a nightly gentle breeze
Raise the feast of sorrow in my emotional soul;

The silent world is like a still and deep sea
On which my groan gushes burning melodies!

The curtain of darkness has fallen down in folds over the earth
Even I do not see a picture of the tears of wakefulness!...

The black whirlpool of despair swings around my heart,
Unless you come to help me Syrius, beaming star!

Perhaps you, Sirius, the smile of the lips of the dawn,
Perhaps you can alleviate the pains of the restless heart!

A gleam of your eye reaches my unlucky soul
It makes my heavy head intoxicated with comfort until the next night!

Then, magnificent star! beaming and shining Sirius,
When you rise, wash with your kiss-curl the weeping eyes of the night!

A STAR'S STORY by Abdulla Goran

At the evening: in the sky of sunset (west),
A star twinkles: bright and beautiful.
Its surroundings are a blue sea and alone
It stares at the evening on the world.
There is in its ray something of light-brown eyes,
And in its tremble the smile of rosy lips.
Like that flower a beautiful woman fixes on her locks,
Any eye that looks at it, does not become sated (replete) with ...
I am also one of those who watch it,
I admire this evening beauty;
On a hill I stand right opposite to it,
My drunken look becomes full of its smile!
It gets dark ... other stars one after another
They throw away their veils in the face of the world ...
But now, quietly, it slides (glides) downwards,
And reaches the edge dimly.
The thirsty lips of horizon suck it like a drop.
Oh, what a pity, setting's death kills it.
This star and its sad story
In what soul doesn't it awake dejection?

Song of Kurdish Children in Amed (Diyarbekir) by Dr. Kamal Mirawdeli (Lovely Kurdish Gentleman)

Let me sing, let me sing
Grey wolves let me sing!
My heart is full of songs
Like a cloud full of rain
Let me rain, let me sing
Grey wolves let me sing!

Let me sing, let me sing
Dinosaurs let me sing
My soul is full of songs
Like a bursting stream
Let me flood, let me sing
Dinosaurs let me sing

Let me sing of love and liberty
My name, my identity,
My homeland, my mountain,
The daffodils in my garden,
My mother, my new-born sister,
My rabbit, my little dog
And my guerrilla dad

Let me sing, let me sing
Grey wolves let me sing

Here they come, here they come
Grey wolves full of hatred
They martyr my father
And kill my baby-brother
Let me sing, let me sing
Grey wolves let me sing

I do sing, I do sing
Grey wolves, I do sing

Grave And Gun by Latif Halmat

Suddenly electricity was restored

The film resumed
Men were making guns
Women were shedding tears

Then the lights went off again

Perhaps the men are digging graves now
The women are wearing black
