Hi;
As maybe you already know a few years ago archaeologist found an ancient cuneiform tablet which preserved a very ancient hymn, the first recored music of human history. This hymn which is Hurrian (Khurrite/Karda) has been interpreted by many peoples and in relatively different versions.
Some of my friends claim that this hymn has a mode very similar to the modern Maqam Kurd played in middle east. But I'm trying to find more accurate info before I'll make a decision. My question is are the old hymn and the modern maqam kurd really similar to eachother? Thanks.

To answer your question, one must have a wide knowledge of the Kurdish meqam - and also see/read the cuniform tablet - preferably listen to the different interpretations which have been produced of the hymn...

Do you have access to the tablet (photo etc.)? And if so - can you share it with us? :)

Thanks...

Very interesting...

And that last link you gave - that guy on Youtube - he is realy putting his heart into re-creating the sound... And it sounds extra ordinary... BEAUTIFUL! :O

Thanks for sharing this... And to be honest - with so MANY versions of hymn - it's impossible to say whether it's in any way related to the Kurdish Meqam or not... :S
