Hi everybody, I'm learning some Kurdish music right now and I'd love a translation of this song I'm learning.

Here is a rough translation to the song you posted . One of the line did not make sense so I left for the rest of the members to figure it out .

One of the line did not make sense so I left for the rest of the members to figure it

I think that line is about some thing like 'Bow and Arrow=تير و که‌مان'.' Probably it means some thing like: 'You are bow and arrow'.

You are right , but the sentence just does not add up

Birû tîr in wek keman e

Birû = I have no idea what this one means
Tir =Arrow
Wek=similar
Keman=violin

The bow in Kurmanji will be Kevan not Keman and that is what is confusing .

I found the song from a book of sheet music I found in the Navenda Çanda Mezopotamya in Istanbul called "Stranên Kurdî 1". I picked it up on my 2007-2008 trip through Turkey and Kurdistan and I've been trying to learn the songs in it, but translating them is really difficult because it's really hard to find good information about the Kurdish dialects, especially here in the US.

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with any other Kurdish sheet music too, because there's a very funny symbol in the key signatures -- The vast majority of the songs are in F (Fa) Major key (with a flat on B (Si)), but they also show a small number "2" at E (Mi). I've never seen that before, and there are some songs that are just in a plain F (Fa) Major key as well, so I know it must indicate something.

I had some basic music training when I was very young . My understanding is that Westren music notes are either "half" or "full" tone . In the Eastren music though we have a "full""half" " and Quarter" tone . That is why you can not play an Eastren song on a westren instrument .

Kak talsor doesn't 'Birû' mean 'go'? If so, the line means: ' Go fast like the speed of an arrow because you are also a bow to shoot arrows'.
