A member of the Turkmen Front says that Turkmens are going to form a special police force, even if PM Maliki does not approve it.

Najat Hussein, a member of the Turkmen Front and the Kirkuk Provincial Council (KPC) said, “Turkmens demanded that the current Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki forge a special force for them, but he has not responded.” He stated that the Iraqi government has always neglected this demand by the Turkmens. The Kirkuk administration also does not support their demand.

“The police can’t keep the city stable, and the Turkmens become victims. That’s why we are going to form this force without the agreement of Iraqi government and security forces,” Hussein said.
Last month, the US forces withdrew from Kirkuk totally, and Kirkuk airport was handed over to the Iraqi army.
