ERBIL, July 28 (AKnews)- Some Iraqi political parties are trying under various pretexts to expedite force into Syria and interfere in the neighboring country's internal affairs, said a Kurdish MP.
Today Iraqi news agency cited an MP of the defense and security committee saying al-Qaeda insurgents have controlled Albukamal border crossing on Iraqi-Syrian border.
Shwan Mohammed, a member of the same committee, said recently some anonymous statements on behalf of the committee are made to the media.
He continued "in fact, these statements are pretexts to move the Iraqi army into Syria and interfere in the issues of this country."
Mohammed added everyone knows the Syrian opposition has issues with the Syrian regime not Iraqi people.
The Kurdish MP was critical of the government position towards the Syrian refugees.
He said the government had to "pay back" Syria for the time it opened its borders for the Iraqi refugees. But the government closed its borders and it was only under the pressure by the civil society and tribal leaders that it decided to re-open the borders and receive Syrian refugees.
Mohammed also accused the Iraqi government of "evading" the responsibility of offering services to Iraqi refugees returning from Syria.
Reports are that yesterday two brigades of the Iraqi army were moved to be stationed along the Iraqi-Syrian border near Zumar and Khabur districts but the Kurdistan border guards objected to the move.
