Saddam owned two palaces in France (Al-Sharq Al-Awsat)

Iraqi sources in Paris confirmed to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat press reports that former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and his family owned two large palaces on the French Riviera. One palace in Cannes is estimated at 10 million euros. The second palace is in Gras, which is considered the perfume capital of France.
(London-based Asharq al-Awsat, a pro-Saudi independent paper, is issued daily.)

I wonder why France was against the war  .
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Yes, hundred of thousands of people in the streets to protest against war were clearly defending saddam hussein real estate.

I perfectly know that from a kurdish point of view war was a good thing. I agree. And as I said it was difficult for me because I'm totally pro kurdish but also really anti-bush...Crimes commited by Americans in Iraq don't serve the kurds!

In the case of an U.N intervention it would have been great...it is still difficult for me to know which position was good..

I don't think it was french government motivation

I agree with what you say of french people

Think a bit

Saddam owns 2 villas in France. There is a war, he is arrested.

What does french government lose? This is a private thing...

Some people say "it is because of petrol interest"

Wrong again: not being with american meant losing contracts in Irak, french government knew that. So maybe you should consider it was just political, really anti war and not pro saddam!

Much people were in the streets the same day against the war, Spanish, German, even English ! So they are more stupid than French if Saddam had not even built one hostel in their countries...

More seriously I think that anti-americanism was the strongest motive of people. And I think that 80% of French are anti-Americans.
