Saudi Warns Syria: Stop Killing or Military intervention

PNA-Saudi Arabia will be the first country to contribute troops should a joint U.N.-Arab peacekeeping force proposed by the Arab League see light, journalistic sources in the kingdom said, following the sharp toned remarks voiced by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal during the League’s meeting on Sunday.

“The Royal Saudi Land Forces will be at the forefront of participants in the peacekeeping mission in Syria should the decision taken by the Arab foreign ministers during their meeting in Cairo yesterday be approved,” journalistic sources in Saudi Arabia told Naharnet.

The Arab League on Sunday decided to offer political and financial support to the Syrian opposition and to ask the United Nations to form a joint peacekeeping force to the unrest-swept nation in moves swiftly rejected by Syria.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed media reports said the kingdom had addressed a strongly worded ultimatum to the Syrian regime, warning it “to stop the killing within 72 hours or face a possible direct military intervention or military support for the soldiers who have defected from the regime.”

Media circles in the kingdom have been buzzing with the aforementioned reports.

According to semi-confirmed information obtained by Naharnet, columns of Saudi tanks are heading north towards the city of Tabuk which is located some 90 kilometers from the Halat Ammar border crossing with Jordan.

I believe KRG should take the leadership or at least spearheading negotiation for Kurdish rights in Western Kurdistan , but unfortunately this is not happening .The atmosphere is very tense with pro PKK supporter taking side with syrian government . I just hope it does not end up in military confrontation between PKK and KRG .

These so called 'PKK' squads are actually acting in behave of Turkey and work against the Kurdish interests and movement. Turkey knows that after Syria and Iran Turkey is NEXT, and Turkey is desperate and is trying to use these Turkish agents against the real Kurds to create the brethren war among Kurds and to show the world that Kurds are not united.

I hope that Western (Syrian) Kurds will do what Barzani is telling them to do!

Good, let the Arabs fight it out. As long as they stay out of our land and way.

off topic, but I'm really being turned off by what the PKK is doing in W.Kurdistan. I mean what possible gain can they have by supporting assad? They would be in a much better situation if W.K turned into KRG style government, hell they could probably win a majority in an election. This stuff makes no sense.

I do not think that Barzani is interested in PKK's support , keep in mind that Serok Barzanis indirect interference in Western Kurdistan does not come from pure nationalistic agenda . Turkey and Europe have been pressuring KRG for a while now to throw his support for the removal of Asad regime .

PKK draw lots of support in Western Kurdistan and the support will totally dry out with the removal of Asad regime . PKK will suffocate between Turks who are killing them , muslim brotherhood who I guarantee you will slaughter them once Asad is removed and KRG who simply do not care and looking after their own interests .

KRG is walking a fine line and while they have repeatedly said that they will never fight PKK , I believe they are willing to sacrifice PKK to achieve their own interests with turkey as they did in the past .

pkk has been warned few times to listen to KRG's demands and they keep refusing it , Barzani told them armed struggle is over , its time to fight in parliament like the BDP is doing , but they don listen , i think they should join the peshmerga instead of the mountain cos BDP is doing ok so far i know the arrests are going on but it is temporary will explode in their faces this year .

mind you pkk friends in W.K. were invited to Erbil conference but they refused and they are helping Assad which is not a good sign for them .

Do you have a source for the warning ? , I do not thing Serok barzani have ever issued any warning aside from his usual call for dialogue and peace and I do not think he is in a position to do so .

alan131210 wrote:Barzani told them armed struggle is over , its time to fight in parliament like the BDP is doing , but they don listen , i think they should join the peshmerga instead of the mountain cos BDP is doing ok so far i know the arrests are going on but it is temporary will explode in their faces this year .

Serok barzani is a smart guy and his statement about armed struggle being over does not mean anything and if he really want PKK armed struggle to be over , it will be over within a week . You know much better than that heval Alan and I do not want to get in to details here .

PKK is being used as a tool to pressure /distract turkey and the moment PKK is finished Turkey will turn their sight to Southern Kurdistan .

Turkish parliament is a Joke and I have repeadily called for all Kurdish MPs and politicians to simply resigne or totally boycate all turkish institutions including the parleiment , because what is the point of participating in a government when 30% of them are in Jail 30 % are in court and the rest are labled and awaiting arrests ?

alan131210 wrote:mind you pkk friends in W.K. were invited to Erbil conference but they refused and they are helping Assad which is not a good sign for them .

I do not think they were invited and I do not think they should be invited . Look , it is a game of good guy bad guy and everyone would rather negotiate with the good guy .PKK's recent escalations worked very well and forced turkey to take southern Kurdistan more seriously , because the alternatives is more powerful PKK which everyone is afraid of and no one wants to negotiate with .

PKK and KRG are quit aware that Asad regime is done , So having an opposing power to turkey and syrian oppostions in Western Kurdistan is essetial and that where PKK comes in .PKK is the bulldog (meant as a complement ) of Kurdistan and turkey and syrian oppositions will be more willing to negotiate with KRG and make major compromises just to avoid dealing with PKK .

yes i do ill find it.

Turkey cant come after KRG with or without PKK ..... maybe that is what MHP barks about but its just a bark nothing more Ergodan already told him "Qandil is not turkey's territory" .

PKK is being used as a tool to pressure /distract turkey and the moment PKK is finished Turkey will turn their sight to Southern Kurdistan .

not a good thing to say dear , pkk have existed for long time now and have been around along side PDK and PUK.

Turkish parliament is a Joke and I have repeatedly called for all Kurdish MPs and politicians to simply resign or totally boycott all turkish institutions including the parleiment , because what is the point of participating in a government when 30% of them are in Jail 30 % are in court and the rest are labled and awaiting arrests ?

its not as bad as before , look at the video of Hasip Kaqplan using the words "kurds and kurdistan" several times without interruption , he abuses the racists in turkey and is allowed to speak , this is how you advance your cause through talks not AK47s , that era is unfortunately over .

I do not think they were invited and I do not think they should be invited . Look , it is a game of good guy bad guy and everyone would rather negotiate with the good guy .PKK's recent escalations worked very well and forced turkey to take southern Kurdistan more seriously , because the alternatives is more powerful PKK which everyone is afraid of and no one wants to negotiate with .

they were invited it was published on the presidency's web page , PKK will not get powerful nor will it get weak thats what both KRG and Turkey too want.

PKK and KRG are quit aware that Asad regime is done , So having an opposing power to turkey and syrian oppostions in Western Kurdistan is essetial and that where PKK comes in .PKK is the bulldog (meant as a complement ) of Kurdistan and turkey and syrian oppositions will be more willing to negotiate with KRG and make major compromises just to avoid dealing with PKK .

maybe that is KRG's intentions but PYD is helping Assad and has attacked kurds who do anti-assad demo , and they kidnapped 2 KNC deputies last week after they returned from Erbil conference. and if you ask me Turkey does not want the kurds in W.k. to have any power or rights whether its through KRG or PKK the best would be to unit and ditch the rest of syria to the hell that it already is .

We are all on the same book heval , but we are simply on different pages .

yeah i agree with you
