2006
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Fear=Retaliation

Turkey's fear of Kurdish identity is retaliate against them, it and the totality of it.

For a country that claims so much b.s. to the world :^o , I expect more maturity from them, but then again who am I kidding? ](*,)

Expecting maturity and truth from the turkish goverment and turkish nationalists is like telling a monkey to act like a human. Seriously , turks will never change unless we change them.

LOL thank you. You made my day with those words, sadly the meaning is hideous, but the symbolism is just plain funny. All I see is a monkey in a lab with a bunch of researchers doing their best.

Why all the insults? They shouldn't have rebelled. I prefer red and white anyways.

Ahh Bariş my dear, therein lies the problem. The whole essence of having freedom of thought and choice is at stake here. You see, while you have the freedom to choose ... these kids are being punished for the very same act. :shock:

It isn't insults, Baris. We're condemning injustice. It's great they rebelled against the fascism. They had every right to draw with Kurdish colors. How would you feel if you were punished for drawing with Turkish colors?

@ Zurderer....Sometimes when we are told some things, it is hard to differentiate the difference between what we are told and what happens around us. For example, most Kurds would have some kind of fear from a Turkish Janderma...even if the person was a nice guy and meant no harm. I would assume that with most Turkish people, there is a sense of connection between Kurds and PKK. Somehow they cannot differentiate between the two. I am not saying these things are correct or true....but it is an observation I have made. The hardest thing to learn, is to "unlearn" preconceived assumptions. Unfortunately, it is the case and until we are able to see a Janderma and not fear him/her and a Turk sees a Kurd and not think PKK....we will always have this confusion...separating little kids from Abdulla Ocalan as you mentioned.
