Its moves like this which give me a clear picture about them.

their logic was: we did not support the formation of this government neither did anyone ask our opinion so why should we vote now !.

we should from now on include all political parties into strategic decisions and meetings to avoid future similar scenarios .

Goran reminds me of a bitchy girlfriend I had long time ago . When it came to responsibilities she would say I'm just a woman , but when it came to rights she was all up in arms asking for equality .

by the way what they have done for southern Kurdistan since they came to be the official opposition ?.

Well they have no power to do much they CAN however put pressure thru parliament on certain things , like corruption nepotism which was quite spread prior to gorran coming to existence which then led into Barzani declare his reform package . Before gorran most SK leaders kept saying "yes we have corruption" but on the ground nothing was done in reality so it was only words but when gorran came they "pushed" KRG and it's leadership to implement their ongoing promises given to the public .

Gorran is only influential in Sulaimani matter fact all doctors engineers teachers etc in the city are gorran supporters .

in Kirkuk they made a historical mistake by not joining with Kurdistani list but they were new then neither the less they must not make such horrible mistakes again ! , but other parties are not so innocent either in dealing with the kurdish issue "in the past" i.e. civil war, 1974 Ashbetall and etc ...

And without an opposition like gorran watching over corruption KRG could become like Russia therefore their pressure is needed to make our government going in the right direction .

So taslor the brief answer to your Q is when they came to existence corruption and nepotism has "reduced" that is all .

@ cewlik

Respect yourself kid , do you know what manner means !

Anyways Maliki is not a very good option for kurds but then who is ! the next guy coming to power will not be any better IMO . Unless Kurds this time say "implement 140 or no government" .

PDK and Gorran are now negotiating about the Gorran MP's to add their support to get rid of milky , PDK has offered PM deputy which is PDK's post as well as another high post in baghdad in return for their votes which will completed the legal number of votes required which is 163 .

and apparently Gorran has agreed but want the news to be published . if this is true then it will prove my point that gorran is not working for iran but is independent in what they do .

remember , gorran was not invited to Erbil agreement which resulted in giving milky 2nd round of PM and i think there way of dealing with the situation was neutral , not bcoz of iran ! puk is likely but i doubt gorran was under iran pressure .

anyways any party not adding his MP votes to throw milky out of his seat in my eyes are a lost bunch and have to face history .

good point Kirkuk1

KRG must not give its support to anyone after milky , they should say , first finalize 140 then seek our support , lesson learned this time :ymsick: .

I think Maliki will survive this thanks to america and Iran. I dont think he will leave power even if majority vote for it. The biggest losers will be the sunni arabs who will resort to terrorism. We kurds will keep getting stronger and richer and hopefully independent if al-tikriti tries any moves.

Talabani threatens with resignation

Talabani threatens with resignation against efforts to change his mind

15/06/2012 14:22

BAGHDAD, June 15 (AKnews)- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani warned that if the parties keep on trying to change his position with regard to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's issue, he will resign, Arabic al-Hurra TV reported.

The US-funded TV said that Talabani's warning came in a letter in response to a written demand by a number of leaders, including Iraqiya List Leader Ayad Allawi, Kurdistan Region's President Massoud Barzani and Sadr Current Leader Muqtada al-Sadr.

The leaders allegedly asked the president to order the House of Representatives take action to withdraw confidence from PM, whom Allawi, Barzani and Sadr described as a "dictator."

The TV which claimed it has obtained a copy of the letter said that Talabani has asked the leaders to stop "provoking and accusing" him and warned he will resign should they try to change his mind.

The president allegedly said that his position with regard to this issue is appropriate with his post as the president of the country.

He stressed that he did not sign a similar letter against Maliki by his advisor Fakhri Kareem with and will not allow for any MPs from his Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to side such efforts.

According to the letter, Talabani has also underlined that in the first meeting in Erbil he verbally supported the threat of withdrawing confidence from PM as a "pressure card.

"If National Alliance or Maliki refused to comply with the principles …and former agreements, I would demand the House of Representatives to withdraw confidence [from PM]."

"The focus was on the urgency of implementing former political agreements and future demands [by Maliki] … but you changed the whole subject to withdrawing confidence," Talabani told the leaders who were sent the letter.

Allawi, Sadr and Barzani as well as House Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi met with Talabani in Erbil April 28 and through a letter to the NA, demanded Maliki stop acting "unilaterally" and commit to the constitution and agreements.

The leaders met three more times and demanded NA replace Maliki.

Maliki rejected the violation charges against himself. NA also stressed it will hold on to Maliki as its sole candidate for PM post and invited the parties for negotiations.

After efforts with NA reached a deadlock, the MPs launched a signature campaign to withdraw confidence from Maliki inside the House. There were reports that more than 164 MPs (the legal number) have voted against PM.

Upon a request from Maliki, Talabani formed a committee to investigate the reports.

In his letter to leaders, Talabani said that initially only 160 MPs voted against Maliki.

Talabani wrote. "when we formed the committee we received telegraphs and phone calls from MPs who demanded to withdraw their signatures.

"If we collect and present the signatures, there will be only 145 votes."

Talabani renewed his call for the parties to meet for negotiations.

"If the NA and the PM refused to comply with the earlier agreements and demands, then I will withdraw the confidence without any need to MPs' signatures," Talabani wrote.

When they succed i dont think that Tikriti will leave power. He will come up with some excuse and impose martial law like 90 % of Arab dictator states.

Iraqiya MP to Islamic Council: Time for dialog elapsed

BAGHDAD, June 22 (AKnews)- The time for dialog is over and all the attention is now diverted to withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government, an MP said.

The remark by Hadi al-Dalemi, the spokesperson for Ayad Allawi's Iraqi National Accord Front (INAF), came in response to efforts by Ammar al-Hakim the leader of the of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI).

It is more than a month Hakim is trying to convince the parties in dispute to hold dialog instead of withdrawing confidence from Maliki.

The proposals by Hakim are the same proposals addressed by Iraqiya earlier "but then they did not reach receptive ears," Dalemi said.

INAF is a component of the Iraqiya List, which is also led by Allawi.

Dalemi added even in Erbil and Najaf meetings the leaders gave the chance for dialog but "Maliki and his State of Law Coalition (SLC) did not deal with the proposals positively."

Dalemi said "the time for this step [dialog] is over and the political blocs are now trying to take the step of interrogating [the PM]…. which is more serious and through which the differences can be settled."

Three leaders, Allawi, Sadr Current Leader Muqtada Sadr and Kurdistan's President Massoud Barzani met in Erbil on April 28 and demanded Maliki end his "unilateral" ruling.

When Maliki refused the allegations, the three leaders met two more times in Najaf and in Suli and demanded the National Alliance (NA) replace Maliki.

As NA stated it will hold onto Maliki, the MPs staged a signature campaign to oust Maliki.

Falling short of the legal number of signatures, the MPs are now trying to interrogate the PM inside the House of Representatives and withdraw confidence from his government.

About 150 chieftains from Kirkuk, Mosul, and Tkreet met in Kirkuk to support withdrawing confidence from prime minister Nuri al-Maliki.

The meeting was held on June 23 in Akram Zangana’s house, who is the head of the Kirkuk branch of the Wifaq Movement. Masoud Zangana, one of the participants said, “The invitation was to withdraw confidence from PM Maliki and support president Barzani of the KRG.” He added, “We should withdraw confidence from Nuri al-Maliki, not from Osama al-Nujeifi.”

He said after withdrawing confidence from PM Maliki, further talks will be held about the status of Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujeifi.

Sheikh Karim Fad’ous from the Lheib tribe in Iraq said, “We have come together to withdraw confidence from PM Maliki.” He said the meetings between the Kurdish and Arab chieftains was important, “These kinds of meetings will lead to turning a new blank page between Arabs and Kurds.”
