Iraq's former Vice president under the Baathist regime,Taha Yassin Ramadan, is according to lawyers in bagdad, going to be executed by March 20th.

He was trailed for crimes against the humanity in the time the Baathist regime ruled Iraq, and he was involved in the baathist coup as well.

He was captured by armed PUK forces August 19, 2003, and handed over to Iraqi and American government.

November 5, 2006 he was sentenced to life imprisonment. However, on 26 December 2006 the appeals court sent the case file back to the Tribunal, saying the sentence was too lenient and demanding a death sentence.

Taha Yassin Ramadan have urged the Iraqi government to stop the execution, however, the goverment is determined to execute him becouse of the crimes he commited.

He is from the Kurdistan region of Iraq and is fluent in Kurdish.
