What is the Nation ?
A nation is a form of self-defined cultural and social community
Nationhood is an ethical and philosophical doctrine and is the starting point for the ideology of nationalism. Members of a "nation" share a common identity, and usually a common origin, in the sense of history, ancestry, parentage or descent. A nation extends across generations, and includes the dead as full members. Past events are framed in this context; for example; by referring to "our soldiers" in conflicts which took place hundreds of years ago. More vaguely, nations are assumed to include future generations.
A nation needs common language, common litarature, common culture.
Nation must produce culture, litarature in common language.
Also,Common history,Common future.
Nation needs equi members

Which of the criteria proposed in that definition of "nationhood" - does the Kurdish nation NOT embody...?
A tribe is an extended family... There are Turkish tribes too... But that doesn't mean that the Turkish people isn't a "nation". Just like Kurds have tribes and still are one nation...

Unrelated, If you continue with this mentality, a chine who know turkish and who live in turkey become turks.
By the way, acording to turkey law, Turk is citizen of Turkey. An azeri cannot become a turk.(acording to our law.)
You still did not show me what is common between a turk from trabzon and a turk from aydın.(the similarities you counted are same with a kurd from diyarbakır and a turk from aydın. Speak same langauge, live under same flag, same id and they live in Turkey.)

why the kurds are not a nation in your opinion? the kurds have the same culture, the same langauge, the same history, the same geography. a kurd of hewler (erbil) is the same as a kurd of amed (diyarbakir). there are no big differences. kurd is everywhere kurd. you KNOW this, you turks can differ between kurds and turks in istanbul and other cities who lives turks and kurds. because the kurds are a own race. but because the kurds wants freedome, you ignore and deny the kurdish identy.

zurderer wrote:orkhun so what make a turk from trabzon and a turk from aydın and a turk from azerbeycan one nation?
Johny by the way, It is not easy to differentiate a turk and a kurd at istanbul.. Infact we cannot differentiate a turk and a kurd at istanbul.
