CAIRO, June 30 (AKnews)- Kurdish National Council of Syria (KNCS) will participate in the conference of Syrian opposition due in Cairo on Monday.
More than ten members of the KNCS will attend the conference after they received invitation from event organizer, the Arab League, said Abdul-Hameed Darwesh, KNCS foreign relations chief. Darwesh said the Kurdish council has prepared a package related to the Kurdish nation and its demand for returning the rights it was deprived of by the Syrian regime.
"It is necessary that these rights be acknowledged by most of the Syrian opposition parties and the international community, Darwesh said. He continued "the entire Syrian peoples, especially Kurds, yearn for a solution for the Syrian crisis whose daily victims are innocent people as long as the corrupt Syrian regime remains.
"All are looking forward to this conference which will end in unifying the Syrian opposition and electing a leadership representative of all parties, without sidelining any party at the expense of the other. "We all represent the Syrian nation which is to be protected from the oppression of the regime." The conference was due to be held this month but lack of agreement among the opposition ranks led to its postponement to July 2-3. The Kurdish council boycotted similar meetings of the Syrian opposition as it claimed the Syrian opposition parties sideline Kurds.
