ERBIL, July 3 (AKnews) – Iraq's Foreign Minister Wushiar Zebari called for unification of the Syrian opposition and creating an opposition that represents all of the components of the Syrian people.
Zebari added that Kurds and other minorities should not be marginalized.
The announcement came in the Syrian opposition conference in Cairo. Zebari also indicated that the opposition must contain Arabs, Kurds and other nationalities.
Zebari added: "The Syrian opposition is going through a tough time after 15 months of ongoing struggle for expression of the hopes and aspirations of the Syrian people."
He added that the goal of a unified opposition - reaching agreements and a common vision - is a national responsibility which is higher than personal, ethnic and religious interests.
"We have not at this stage only the initiative of Kofi Annan and we work to implement, although it does not meet all the aspirations of the Syrian people."
