BAGHDAD: Iraq freed a Saddam-era interior minister on Monday after he completed his seven-year prison sentence and was not found to be wanted on any other charges, a justice ministry spokesman said.

"Mahmud Dhiyab Al Ahmad, the interior minister during the Saddam regime, was

released after he finished serving his sentence of seven years," Haidar Al Saadi said by text message.

He added that Ahmad, the seven of spades in the US deck of cards highlighting the top wanted officials in the regime of now-executed dictator Saddam Hussein, was not wanted on any other charges.

Overall, Ahmad was number 29 on the American list of Iraqi officials most wanted following the 2003 US-led invasion.

He surrendered to US forces on August 8, 2003.

I really couldn't care if its the interior minister or the minister of food, if they are baathists they need to all be hanged. The politics with Hashemi and the Central Iraqi government also doesn't concern me.

i am not with him been released or not and i dont think he has kurdish blood on his hands otherwise he would have been hanged by now , lol he will not be welcomed to KRG so most likely he will end up killing milky boys anyway , but this shows the double standard of iraqi government chasing Hashmi on terror charges while releasing another thug .

it is to please Qatar and Saudia but this will not grant milky 1% praise from them.

I slighty have to disagree with you, because you see its like the top Nazi officials. They may of not had blood on their hands directly, but they knew the crimes that were being committed. Just like these Baathists. I agree though the Iraqi government is beyond stupid, it seems to lack the ability to comprehend their hypocrisy, actually I think they know lol.
