The greatest singers

I know there is lots of Great singers in all parts of Kurdistan and it would be great if othere member post their favourate singer in term of their contribution to kurdish music and culture . I was born in Bahdinan side and so far no one was able to contribued to Kurdish music as much as Mohammad Arif did . Every song he has tells a real story and an actual event , he was a singer and song writer and a muscian . God bless his soul .

I remember Mohammad Arif songs as far back as before 1960. The tunes of his songs and music are still ringing deep in my mind. One of his songs, which was my favourite was 'Ez Chabokim'. I used sing this song but in a broken or corrupted manner. The chief of the village warned me not to sing it because I was corrupting it.

There were many other great contributors at the same time of Mohammad Arif like Rasul Gurdi, Tayr Tawfiq, Hassan Zirak. Before him there were others like Kawais Agha and Miriam Xan.

Many thnaks Kak Talsor. I have found 'Ez Chabokim'. Now I am listening to it.

My favourite singer is Muhemmed Shexo. I think he contributed well in enriching kurdish music . You can see many new singers are singing or renewing his songs.

I swear haval Qamishlo , you bring back some very old and wonderful memories . My favourate song was

I only know his songs from 80's ,
is he still alive and does he have any new CDs ????? , I believe he lives in Western kurdistan now if i'm not mistaken .

Most Kurd's pleasant and unpleasant events usually happen in March ... One of the unpleasant day in Qamishlo was also in March - It was that hunermend Muhemed Shexo passed away on 9 / 3/ 1989 in Qamishlo city " his city ". and buried in Hilaliya-cemetery .
