Agiri is about the Ararat rebellion in the 1930s. The song begins with a narration how an elderly man strikes across mount Agiri and tells the story of which Sivan then sings about. It is the story of the Kurdish uprising led by the Patriotic Movement Xoybun with members of Bedirxan family and other influential Kurdish clans. The song depicts the melancholy tones about how the uprising turned into bloody put down in the beautiful mountain landscape of Kurdistan's highest peak. This event marks an important milestone in the modern history of Kurdistan because it struck down a progressive movement and expelled thousands of Kurds in exile.
Many of the families who supported the uprising, particularly those from Serhad region, fled across the border to the former Soviet Republic of Armenia. A few years later when the Dersim Rebellion was put down, Stalin and Ataturk entered into an agreement, deported all Kurdish refugees in Armenia to the Soviet republics in Central Asia.
The song is from Sivan Perwers golden days as an artist, the music is simple and his voice filled with feelings of struggle, freedom and exile.
