Lorin Berzinji was born 1980 in the Kurdish town Qamishlo. She has singed in many groups and been on stage several times, but as time passed she wanted to write and sing her own music.

It was important for her that her music reflected her personality; a mixture of the Kurdish music and influences from the European music.Today she is a student at Uppsala University where she is studying Middleeastern studies with an direction towards political science and languages as Kurdish (both main dialects, Sorani and Kurmanci), Persian and Arabic. She has also studied music and singing technique apart from her University studies.

It is important for Lorin to sing in different Kurdish dialects. Growing up in the Kurdish diaspora has taught her that the notion of beeing Kurd is about beeing a part of the whole Kurdish culture and languange.

Good luck to her... But like King Diyako said - she isn't realy "new"... But thank you anyway, Vladimir... :)

I saw her music video - "Biriya te dikem" - which I found a bit annoying for one reason... She sings:

"Birya te dikim
Tu ji min pir dûre
Lêt nêzîk dile..."

It's grammatically incorrect to say "Tu ji min pir dûre" - correct would be: "Tu ji min pir dûrî"...

You see in Kurmancî, "e" is for third person... While "î" is for second person...

So when you want to someone with "Tu" ("you") - you cannot say "dûrE" - then you MUST say "dûrÎ"...

But hey, she want's to sing in her own sub-dialect I guess... Which is alright...

Yeah...

I was gonna comment that - I was thinking of saying: "Good thing you used the "..." because she's not new..."

But GOD how annoying when people mess with Kurdish grammar...
