"Bê Soz" sung by Karwan & Çopî is a song about a lost love...

Bê = without
Soz = Word

To be "without word" or "Wordless" does not mean to be "speechless" in Kurdish, but rather if somebody has said something (soz) and they don't honour their word, then they are "Bê soz" in e.g. "Can't keep promises" or more litteraly a person who "Can't keep (his/her) word"...

***1 ---> "Malandin" = "To clean the house" - comes from "Mal" = "Hous" and "andin" = a suffix to denote "ing" - so literally means "Housing", but it's figurative for "cleaning" or "tidying" the "Mal" = "House"... "Bi" prefix along with "e" suffix denotes second person: "you"...

***2 ---> "Dijwar" = "hard to take" or more directly "unusual", "unbearable" or "intolerable" --> Dij = anti/against/un & War = house/home/place of background or identity - in e.g. what you define as "safe" and "normal"...

***3 ---> "Hewar" = "Scream" but in these lyrics and in most cases when said, it's not meant in a literal sense, but more like a metaphorical "scream" which is said in the sense of "helplessness"...

Yeah - I am 20000% sure... But of course, I can understand that it's hard for you to understand it since you're from Riha and speak Berazî sub-dialect of Kurmancî - and the song is in Badînî sub-dialect of Kurmancî...

These two sub-dialects of Kurmancî are under separate influences - one is/was under Turkish influence and the other under Arabic influence...

They have been developing in different paths... So that's why it can be a bit harder for you to understand their speech, than for example me - since I am from a geographically closer place to Badînan...

Çopî is from Kerkûk, which is a Soranî speaking area... They speak Germiyanî sub-dialect of Soranî...
Karwan is from Duhok, which is a Kurmancî speaking area... They speak the Badinî sub-dialect of Kurmancî...

But in this particular song, they (both of them) are singing in Badinî sub-dialect of Kurmancî...

i can understand the standard kurdish, but this one is really hard

Yes I know what you mean, xûşka min But you have to see that he is from Duhok and he will sing in his sub-dialect...

But I wrote it all in standard Kurmancî - so you should be able to understand most of it - except some words which are speciak to Badînan which you don't use in Berazî (Riha is in Beraz province)...

yea i'm happy of it!!!!! you did great job Diri , thanks so much..
coz i listen quite often this song and i always wonder what they can said, i guess only it's was love song (coz of the sad sound in the melody) t's rather a poetic song i like especially the Chopy's part, cause i think in Karwan's part he's too much..too much, i don't know how to say it in english, i'm not saying he's not sincere but in Chopy's part she's more realistic than him about their situation.
oh and also it's very nice u wrote it with kurdish lyrics so i'd also sing it if i want to practise my prounounciation^^

I didn't know they r also sub dialects inside dialects, but i wonder something when someone is learning kurmanji this person has to learn general kurmanji, not dialect? but maybe it's still similar.

I agree - Çopî's part is better - but that is because she has a better local range... Her voice is stronger and more soulful... Karwans voice is more soft and he's a bit subtle...

But they are not a couple, dear... Karwan is single and Çopî is engaged... They never were together...

Do you speak Kurdish at all? Because if not - then it is smart to sing songs and immitate their sounds

Yes - every dialect has sub-dialects... In French you have the French dialect of France, the French dialect of Belgium, the French dialect of Andorra and of Corsica - and these all have local dialects...

In Kurdistan we have the Kurdish dialects of Kurmancî, Soranî, Goranî & Kirmanckî... These have lesser sub-dialects...

In Norwegian - we have Bokmål and Nynorsk... And every region and city has a different sub-dialect... It's normal... Because geography forms the human being!

When you learn Kurdish, you should first decide which dialect you want to learn... And then you will learn the standard of that dialect. If you want to learn Kurmancî (it is the one with most speakers) then you will learn standard Kurmancî which is what I wrote the lyrics in...

Here are some examples of differences:

English - Badînî - Kurmancî Proper
Garden - Bîstan - Bostan
Bride - Bîke - Bûke

You see in Badînan they usually turn the proper "û" or "o" into an "î"...

oh ok i did a mistake i really thought they were couple i don't know why;-) but it's nice information that Karwan is single so i can try my luck with him (of course i'm kidding^^)
yea we have also in France dialects as breton,corse.. but since times it"s not more very common to use it, only people in some village know about it, cause official language's french and almost in every school children don't learn dialects, i think it's a little bit a pity!!but about berlgium and swiss languages it's exactly same language as ours, the only differences are we have different accent!!

no unfortunately i can't speak any kurdish at all but sometimes for me it's not so important to understand languages and especially when i'm listening music for example if i like a song very much
i thought maybe i can begin to learn kurdish language by this way, i mean by listening songs;
but when i saw your translation i saw they use quite elaborate vocabulary, even in english i had to translate into french so it will take time to me to can speak kurdish (cause im not very good to learning in language) but i really want to do coz now i'm in holidays i've got more times than usually!!
i think i 'll choose badini cause i like the sound of this dialect language!!
i try to pronounce sounds as Chopy but she sung better than me;-) so i've also to take singing lessons :d
