why is nyan cat so popular?

i believe it is cuz 90% of teens of today have become trolls and love annoying things...
but seriously,im i missing out on something? is there any hidden meaning behind the video?
i personally find the music/sound annoying and the cat just as ugly as maliki.

It is not the only cat , it is also the background . To keep the brain stimulated most successful videos or movies will change the image every 3-7 second .It is scientifically proven that the brain get board after 10 second if it is not stimulated . In this video in paticular the image changes every fractions of second thus keeping the brain stimulated , but when it is done you are left with an empty feeling which makes you want to watch it again and again and again

Watch any other video or movie and start counting and you will see that the image changes every 3-7 second .
