In the girls’ volleyball qualification in Kirkuk, the Solav and Khak clubs made it to the Kurdistan Girls’ Volleyball Championship.
The qualifications were held monitored by the Kirkuk branch of the Kurdistan Olympiad. Khak, Solav and Solavi Nwe took part where Solav and Khak won the matches. Zainab Sa’doon in the Kirkuk office of Kurdistan Olympiad said, “The aim was to choose the clubs to take part in the Kurdistan Volleyball Championship and represent Kirkuk.”
The championship is due next week in Erbil. Bnar Bakir from Solav, who showed a great deal of skill in the qualification said, “I wished more clubs could take part, but since girls are mostly prevented from sports, only three clubs took part.”
She added, “Girls not taking part in the volleyball and other sports is attributed to the education level of some families which they believe that girls should not do sports.” The qualifications ended on September 6.
