Following the visit to İmralı on Monday afternoon, Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan, Bayram Kaymaz's mother Medine Kaymaz and Cumali Karsu's sister Pervin Oduncu returned to Gemlik in evening hours.
Speaking to reporters after the visit to the island, Mehmet Öcalan said that the Kurdish leader condemned the killing of three Kurdish politicians in Paris on 9 January. Öcalan conveyed Kurdish leader's condolences to the families of three Kurdish women.
“He commented Paris killings as another Dersim Genocide”, remarked Mehmet Öcalan and said the followings about the Kurdish leader's message on the killings; “He said the enlightenment of the killings will also help to progress the ongoing process of talks. He said this assassination was a message and that the perpetrators should be found out in the earliest time. He added he would make a statement to BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) co-chairs about the ongoing process if they attend the meetings in İmralı.”
Asked about the television issue [Turkish PM Erdoğan has recently stated that Öcalan is provided with all kind of needs, including a TV], Mehmet Öcalan noted that “He said the prison administration insisted on putting a TV in his room though he didn't ever ask for one”.
It has been learned that Bayram Kaymaz refused to see his mother Medine Kaymaz in protest against the reduction of the time given to prisoners for the meeting with their families.
On the other hand, four members of the Prison Watch Council have reportedly made examinations in İmralı prison today.
