How Europe is undermining
Ukraine war negotiations

European plans for postwar troop deployments in Ukraine may be undermining negotiations with Russia, risking a prolonged war and deeper regional instability

Following last week’s Paris meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” 26 countries reportedly agreed to contribute to a military force that would be deployed in Ukraine, but only after the war ends. While framed as a "stabilizing measure" for the postwar period, the move raises urgent questions about whether European powers are unintentionally, or perhaps deliberately, complicating the prospects for a negotiated settlement to the Ukraine war.

Just weeks earlier, during a press conference at the Anchorage leaders’ summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated that any peace agreement must include provisions for Ukraine’s security. However, Russian officials have made it clear that this security cannot involve the presence of Western combat forces on Ukrainian territory.

In response to the coalition's postwar troop proposal, Putin declared that such deployments would be considered "legitimate targets" by the Russian military, a stark warning with serious implications.

Russia’s red lines vs. Europe’s strategic calculations

European leaders continue to pursue plans that could potentially bring them into direct confrontation with Russia, the country with the largest nuclear weapons arsenal. One explanation may lie in shifting perceptions of Russia’s deterrent posture. Early in the war, Putin’s nuclear signaling had a chilling effect on Western involvement.

Additionally, Europe’s approach appears to be anchored in long-standing principles established after the Cold War. As recently emphasized by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Western nations argue that Russia has no right to veto Ukraine’s sovereign decisions, including accepting foreign troops. This stance is grounded in the Charter of Paris, which affirms the right of states to choose their own security arrangements freely.

Yet this principle-based approach omits a key element of that same charter, the concept of indivisible security, which asserts that no nation should enhance its security at the expense of another’s. While the West defends Kiev’s “right to choose,” it downplays the fact that NATO enlargement, including the proposed troop presence, directly impacts Russia’s sense of security.

Why postwar troop plans could backfire

Despite suggestions that foreign forces would only enter Ukraine after the war ends, the mere announcement of such intentions could influence Russian decision-making today. If Moscow believes that the presence of Western troops is inevitable once a ceasefire is reached, it may conclude that prolonging the war is the only way to prevent this outcome.

Rather than serving as a bargaining chip in negotiations, insisting on a postwar Western military presence in Ukraine may harden Russia’s resolve. The result could be a longer, bloodier conflict, driven by a strategic miscalculation on Europe’s part. In this light, European calls for a ceasefire, when coupled with such plans, appear increasingly disingenuous.

Is Europe sincere about a ceasefire?

The shift in European rhetoric toward supporting a ceasefire did not occur until US President Donald Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to accept a 30-day unconditional truce. Once the US took the lead, Europe followed, largely due to its dependency on Washington for security.

However, since Russia has made clear it will not agree to a ceasefire without achieving its political goals, European support for an unconditional ceasefire serves a secondary function: portraying Moscow as the main obstacle to peace. While not an unfair characterization, the tactic suggests that European priorities may lie elsewhere.

Further undermining the credibility of Europe’s peace narrative is its continued emphasis on imposing new sanctions against Russia, without offering any pathway to sanctions relief as a negotiating incentive. Such an approach weakens the West’s leverage at the bargaining table.

Risky gamble for European stability

The insistence on a hardline postwar strategy, from troop deployments to sanctions, reflects a deeper belief among Europe’s political class: that a so-called “bad deal” would be worse than the war continuing. Some may believe that Ukraine can hold the front long enough for Russia to falter under the weight of military losses and economic decline.

Others may be more concerned with avoiding the appearance of weakness. From this perspective, even a Russian breakthrough could serve Western interests by uniting European governments and populations behind increased defense spending. The assumption is that even if Russia gains territory, it will be unable to control a resistant Ukrainian population.

But this logic carries significant risks. The recently announced memorandum of understanding on the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline underscores the long-term consequences of Europe’s rupture with Russia. If completed, the pipeline will shift energy flows toward China, locking in Russia’s economic pivot to Asia and diminishing Europe’s strategic influence.

Choosing between escalation, engagement

Russia will remain an adversary of the collective West for the foreseeable future. But if Europe is to navigate a multipolar world effectively, it must leave open channels for engagement, even with rivals. Insisting on rigid military alignments and zero-sum outcomes may not only prolong the war in Ukraine but also destabilize the broader international order.

While defending principles is important, preserving space for diplomacy is essential. Posturing for postwar troop deployments may score short-term political points, but it risks sabotaging the very negotiations that could bring this devastating conflict to an end.

Poland downs hostile objects
during Russian strikes on Ukraine

Poland confirms it used military force to intercept unidentified aerial objects that entered its airspace during a major Russian assault on Ukraine, marking the first such military engagement by a NATO member since the Russia-Ukraine war began

Poland confirms that its military used weapons to down "hostile objects" that violated its airspace during a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine on Wednesday, September 10, marking the first known instance of a NATO country engaging aerial targets amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

“Aircraft have used weapons against hostile objects,” Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on social media, noting that Poland was in "constant contact with NATO command."

In a post made roughly an hour later, the Polish defence minister stated, "Polish and allied radar systems tracked more than a dozen objects that violated airspace. Considering those that may have posed a threat, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces decided to neutralize them. The drones that posed a threat were shot down. Search efforts are underway to identify and identify the locations of possible impacts."

The incident occurred as Russia launched a widespread aerial assault across Ukraine, including the western city of Lviv, located 80 kilometers from the Polish border.

NATO on alert as cross-border incursions escalate

Russian drones and missiles have reportedly previously crossed into NATO territory, including Poland, during the course of the war, but this marks the first time a member state has taken active military steps to shoot down incoming objects.

The operational command of Poland's military described the incursion as "unprecedented," reporting that approximately a dozen drone-like objects were detected, and several were shot down.

“This is an act of aggression that has created a real threat to the safety of our citizens,” the military command stated.

Warsaw labels violation as act of aggression

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that military assets were deployed and that weapons were used during the operation. He stated that a military response to “multiple violations” of Polish airspace was underway.

In response to the security breach, the Polish government announced an "extraordinary" cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 11, at 8:00 am local time (0600 GMT).

The incident raises new concerns about the escalating scope of the Russia-Ukraine war and its potential spillover effects into neighboring NATO territories.

Under NATO’s Article 5, an attack on one member is considered an attack on all, a principle that has not yet been triggered.

On Tuesday, Poland's deputy prime minister stated that the central European nation will receive €43.7 billion ($51.3 billion) under an EU programme to boost its defense capabilities as Warsaw continues to strengthen its military amid increased militarization in Europe.

It would not surprise me to discover that this is a FALSE FLAG event

We have been expecting a FALSE FLAG event about now as Zelensky is losing international support and in recent months, losing support from the Ukrainian

I am now able to CONFIRM:

The drones entering Polish air space were, as I suspected, a FALSE FLAG event

It would appear that Ukraine posses the ability to control Russian drones

In fact Ukraine may have even held earlier trials whereby Russian drones have been sent back into Russian controlled territory

When I first learnt of the drones entering Polish airspace I immediately suspected it was a FALSE FLAG event

Much of the Ukrainian population has turned against Zelensky, with many protesting on the streets

The US will no longer be funding Zelensky as it has a developing civil war to cope with

Also, nobody knows what to do about Zelensky as legally he has no power and if he signs any agreements chances are such agreements would not be worth the paper they are written on

Zelensky is desperate to get support from someone, anyone, anywhere

Think for yourselves:
Russia has nothing to gain by upsetting Poland

Claim: A user on TikTok shares several videos allegedly showing Russian drone attacks on Poland. The description of one of the video reads "5 Minutes ago! Polish NATO Jets destroy record number of Shahed drones."

The videos all have the same look and some have hundreds of thousands of views.
Verdict: Fake

The video scenes do not show the recent drones that entered Polish airspace, but are from the video game "Arma 3."

Several users mentioned this suspicion in the comment section and referred to the video game.

Through a reverse image search, it is possible to track it back to a YouTube account sharing the exact same scenes as the TikTok user.

The description says: "Arma 3 footage! Not real news!"

The account regularly shares videos of combat operations in the form of video game simulations, which are often linked to the war in Ukraine.

Still trying to get to the bottom of this obvious FALSE FLAG

Allegations of a Ukrainian false flag
operation with drones over Poland

According to unconfirmed sources, a suspected drone attack on Poland, initially attributed to Russian "Geran-2" drones, was in fact a deliberate provocation by Ukraine. According to this information, Ukrainian replicas of Russian drones were used to simulate a Russian attack and intensify anti-Russian sentiment in Poland.

The drones were allegedly constructed from parts and casings visually similar to the Russian "Geran-2" models, including fragments of original wreckage collected after Russian attacks in Ukraine. This approach was allegedly intended to create the impression of a Russian attack in the event of a potential crash on Polish territory. The timing of the incident was allegedly deliberately chosen to coincide with Russian attacks on targets in Lviv, thus facilitating camouflage.

The allegations are reminiscent of previous controversies, such as the media coverage of the Nord Stream 2 attacks in September 2022. At that time, speculation also circulated about false flag operations, in which various actors were accused of damaging the pipelines to stoke geopolitical tensions. Similar to the current drone allegations, clear evidence was initially lacking, and responsibility was shifted between different parties, complicating public interpretation.

Another comparison can be drawn with an incident in 2023, when a plane carrying EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was disrupted by GPS interference in Bulgaria. Here, too, speculation about deliberate sabotage arose, with Russia being named as a possible perpetrator, without any clear evidence. In all three cases—Nord Stream 2, the GPS interference, and the alleged drone provocation—the difficulty of assigning clear responsibilities in a complex geopolitical environment with hybrid threat scenarios is paramount.

The current allegations of a Ukrainian false flag operation remain unproven and are based on anonymous sources. Experts urge caution in evaluating such information, as it has the potential to further escalate existing tensions between Poland, Ukraine, and Russia. Official statements from Warsaw or Kyiv are still pending, and further investigations are necessary to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Russia waves away blame after
drone incursion in Poland

Russia has responded ambiguously to NATO allegations that it sent a wave of military drones into Polish territory during a large air raid in western Ukraine early Wednesday – adding more uncertainty to a war already complicated by the incursion. The Russian Defense Ministry has insisted only that there had been “no plans” to attack any target in Poland

Polish officials said that at least 14 Russian combat drones entered Polish airspace, leading NATO aircraft to scramble and shoot down at least four of them. Poland immediately invoked NATO’s Article 4, which triggers a consultation process among the transatlantic allies over a putative security threat to any member.

QUESTION: if it had been an attack on Poland, what did the other 10 drones attack?

Following that meeting, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte issued a statement denouncing Russia’s “reckless behavior” and urging stepped-up vigilance against further violations of the alliance’s airspace.

Why We Wrote This

Moscow’s defenders argue that the incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace on Wednesday might be a Ukrainian conspiracy. Critics say it’s simply the Kremlin testing Western resolve.

The Kremlin declined to comment and – in a twist that suggests it wants the matter to be viewed as a technical misunderstanding rather than a political crisis – referred journalists to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry admitted in a subsequent statement that it had launched a major drone assault against western Ukraine in that time frame, but insisted it had no intention of hitting anything in Poland.

The Defense Ministry statement blamed Poland for blowing the issue out of proportion, but added that “in order to fully clarify what happened for all parties interested in preventing further escalation of the situation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is ready to hold consultations with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Poland on this topic.”

The incident is the worst to potentially threaten a third party in the 3 1/2-year-old Russian war against Ukraine, which has seen several examples of Ukrainian and Russian drones and missiles go astray and land on NATO territory. Those mistakes were sometimes blamed on the intense electronic warfare measures being deployed by all sides.

Russian defense expert Viktor Litovkin, the military editor at the official TASS news agency, says that the whole affair is quite murky. For one thing, he says, citing Western news reports, the remains of Russian drones so far found in Poland indicate that they were harmless decoys and not armed assault vehicles.

“Why would Russia send dummy drones into Poland, which had no warheads and did no damage?” he says. It’s highly suspicious, he adds, that this alleged incursion has taken place on the eve of the major Zapad-2025 military exercises between Russia and Belarus, which are slated to begin on Sept. 12.

“Even if they turn out to be Russian drones, it doesn’t mean our side sent them into Poland. Plenty of our drones have fallen into Ukrainian hands,” he says. “I think this is a deliberate provocation, designed to drag NATO into the war against Russia.”

Igor Korotchenko, editor in chief of the Russian magazine National Defense, echoed Mr. Litovkin’s accusations. “It is a clear example of an operation under a false flag,” he argues. He claims that Ukrainian special forces launched the drone incursion “to try to influence [U.S. President] Donald Trump’s position” on the war.

Mr. Korotchenko contends also that the drones Russia used could not have reached Poland. But if the 700-kilometer range (about 435 miles) provided by the Ministry of Defense is correct, the drones should have been capable of entering Polish airspace from Russian territory.

French public oppose sending troops to Ukraine

A new survey reveals that most French citizens oppose deploying Western troops to Ukraine, though they support security guarantees and NATO integration

A recent survey highlights a sharp divide in French public opinion on Ukraine. While most citizens support providing Kyiv with security guarantees and eventual NATO membership, a majority remain opposed to deploying Western troops directly into the conflict.

According to a French Institute of Public Opinion (Ifop) poll cited by the newspaper Sud Ouest, more than half of French respondents reject the idea of sending Western forces to Ukraine as part of President Emmanuel Macron’s so-called "coalition of the willing." Only 47% expressed support for a deployment modeled on the US presence in South Korea.

The poll was conducted online in early September among 1,197 French adults, with a margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 percentage points.

Broader French public opinion

Recent polls suggest that French support for Ukraine remains strong but comes with notable caveats. An Elabe/BFMTV survey conducted in March 2025 showed that 64 percent of French citizens favored either maintaining or increasing military aid to Ukraine, with only a small minority wanting to reduce assistance.

Support for Ukraine’s integration into Western institutions is also robust. Seventy percent of respondents backed NATO membership for Ukraine, with 40 percent favoring accession after the war and 30 percent calling for immediate entry. Similarly, 66 percent expressed support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

Despite this strong political and security backing, French citizens remain wary of bearing the economic costs of war. Three-quarters said they were unwilling to pay higher taxes to finance aid for Ukraine, even as they endorsed military and political support.

Macron’s 'Coalition of the Willing'

On September 4, Paris hosted a meeting of the coalition, co-chaired by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and President Macron. The gathering brought together 26 countries committed to deploying deterrent forces in Ukraine should a ceasefire be reached. Macron stressed that the coalition would soon begin addressing the legal and political framework for security guarantees.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the initiative, warning that the presence of NATO troops on Ukrainian soil, whether as peacekeepers or under another designation, would be viewed as a direct threat to Moscow and categorically rejected by Russia.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

The agreement was for Russia to give up parts of Germany and in return the US pledged not to move itself or NATO one inch closer to Russia

Russia kept it's part of the bargain, everyone in the entire world knows about the collapse of the Berlin wall

The fact that US / NATO did not keep their side of the bargain, failed to receive the same publicity as it slowly inched closer to Russian borders

As the US broke the agreement surely that means part of Germany should revert to Russian control

Ukraine faces air defense shortage
as Pentagon pauses shipments

Ukraine warns of an air defense shortage as US aid slows and Moscow escalates attacks, while European support arrives too slowly to fill in the gap

Ukraine faces a potential shortage of air defense weapons because a US Defense Department review of military aid has significantly slowed deliveries, and this delay comes at a critical time as Moscow dramatically intensifies its air attacks, according to Western and Ukrainian officials cited by the Financial Times.

Pressure on supplies has become more acute after months of irregular and smaller-than-expected shipments that followed a Pentagon directive in June, prompting officials and analysts to warn that if Moscow continues to escalate or even just sustains its current higher tempo of missile and drone attacks, Ukrainian air defence units will face critical shortfalls.

The slowdown is particularly worrying because other missiles, which are procured directly from manufacturers under the separate Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative program, are produced in batches, and this batch production inherently leaves gaps between deliveries.

EU nations have also recently agreed to send air defense systems and munitions from their own stocks and to purchase additional ones from the US so that they can supply Ukraine, but these deliveries have only just begun and are arriving only in part.

"It's a question of time for when munitions run out," a person familiar with US deliveries of air defense materiel to Ukraine told the Financial Times.

Moscow ramps up attacks, Ukraine warns of shortage

While Ukraine has repeatedly warned of air defense shortages to the Biden administration, Moscow's intensified attacks have heightened these concerns, and the US delivery slowdown originated from an early June memo by Elbridge Colby, the Pentagon's top policy official, for Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

Colby, who has stated his intent to refocus the US military on countering the growing threat from China, argued in the memo that approving Ukraine's requests for American weapons could further deplete already stretched Pentagon stockpiles.

“Reporting that we are ‘depriving Kiev of vital air defence munitions’ is demonstrably false, and the Department of War is working very deliberately to support Ukraine’s requirements, including with respect to air defences," a White House official said, according to FT.

The official added that President Donald Trump's objective was to stop the killing and that he had directed the US to sell weapons to NATO allies so that they could backfill the systems and munitions which European countries were sending to Ukraine.

“However, European countries must step up as well, including by ending purchases of Russian oil and placing economic pressure on countries that finance the war," the official highlighted, a grievance Trump has been calling out in recent meetings.

US pause in interceptors

Following a readiness review of ten critical systems, the Pentagon first paused and then slowed shipments to Ukraine, a list which included PAC-3 interceptors for Patriot air defence systems. The pause included dozens of Stinger man-portable air defense systems, precision-guided artillery shells, over 100 Hellfire missiles, and AIM missiles for Ukraine's NASAMS air defence systems and F-16 fighter jets, according to senior US and Ukrainian officials.

Kiev's forces have, since the summer, expended significant quantities of munitions in their effort to defend against intense aerial barrages that have targeted both military and civilian infrastructure, according to Ukrainian officials.

As Russia expands its air strikes on energy facilities ahead of the colder autumn and winter months in an attempt to weaken Ukraine and press its battlefield advantage, Kiev anticipates facing greater defensive challenges.

Assassination of neo-Nazi, 2014 coup leader
Andriy Parubiy shocks Ukraine elite

Ukraine’s conflict can only be resolved when its anti-war, anti-Nazi people take control of their own destiny beyond the US-NATO proxy war

Ukrainian media and representatives of the country’s political elite have been deeply shaken by the assassination of leading neo-Nazi figure Andriy Parubiy in the streets of the city of Lvov in western Ukraine on August 30.

Parubiy and the neo-Nazi formations he led were key fomenters of the violent, paramilitary coup in Kiev in February 2014. They headed the extremist wing of the ‘Euromaidan’ movement, which came to prominence in 2013, seeking a rupture of close economic relations with Russia, to be replaced by a subordinate status within the European Union
Considering his neo-Nazi ideology, Parubiy held an astonishing number of leading government positions in post-coup Ukraine, and for long durations.

He was first elected to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine legislature) in 2007 and served there until his untimely demise nearly two decades later. He held top roles in the Rada from 2014 to 2019.

He became no less than secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine for a brief time in 2014, shortly after the coup. That ended when Western governments and media realized this particular posting might get in the way of selling to their uninformed and gullible populations the story of the coup as being a ‘democratic revolt’.

Andriy Parubiy was shot dead in a street close to his home in Lvov. He was shot eight times. His killer was arrested two days later and then quickly claimed responsibility for the killing at his court arraignment on September 2.

Mikhail Stselnikov (Scelnikov) is a resident of western Ukraine. He was able to tell his story and briefly speak to reporters for all of Ukraine to hear and read at his arraignment on September 2.

He explained that his act was one of personal revenge against the Ukrainian government for the death of his son in combat in 2023 in the US/NATO proxy war being waged in Ukraine since the 2014 coup.

The ‘low intensity’ war in the Donbass region, begun by the coup regime in 2014, was escalated in 2021, provoking Russia into an all-out invasion of the majority-Russian-speaking regions of eastern Ukraine, including Donbass, in February 2022
Stselnikov’s son died in 2023 in the grim, nearly one-year-long battle for control of the city of Artyomovsk (called ‘Bakhmut’ in Ukraine, pre-war population of 80,000).

The city lies in the Donetsk Republic in the historically Russian region of Donbass and was all but destroyed in the fighting. The coup regime used its betrayal of the February 2015 ‘Minsk 2’ peace agreement to fortify and heavily entrench its paramilitaries and regular armed forces in the cities of Donbass, such as Artyomovsk. This explains why the proxy war that escalated in 2022 is lasting so long and proving so difficult for Russia to conclude.

Ukrainian authorities initially tried to blame the Russian government for the killing, but that story didn’t survive for 48 hours. Stselnikov’s court appearance and admissions on September 2 have shocked the country with his honesty and boldness. Of particular note is that the father does not blame the Russian government or armed forces for his son's death. He blames the leaders of the 'Euromaidan' coup
Stselnikov told reporters that he did not hold a specific grudge against Paruiby. “Yes, I killed Paruiby. He lived close by. If I lived in Vinnytsia, it would have been Petya," he said, 'Petya’ being the nickname of Petro Poroshenko, one of the wealthiest men in Ukraine. He was elected ‘president’ in May 2014 for a five-year term in an election where opponents of the coup were effectively banned. Poroshenko’s home city Vinnytsia is located some 350 km east of Lvov, about halfway to Kiev.

Ukrainian politicians view the killing of Parubiy as a direct threat to themselves. It is particularly unsettling because they are so used to writing off any bad news coming their way as ‘pro-Russia propaganda’. This was a Ukrainian father with a son who served in the military and whose fate ended in tragedy.

The news has overshadowed even the torrent of bad war news washing over Ukraine, which sees steady advances by the Russian military across the entire frontline, while news of possible negotiations to end the fighting hardly serves the narrative of the Kiev regime that is only Ukraine can hold out a little longer, fresh waves of money and weapons will soon pour in from the West.

Stselnikov’s son was an IT specialist from Lvov, a hotbed of neo-Nazism in Ukraine. The son was born in 1994 and was inevitably exposed and heavily influenced there by ultra-nationalist propaganda. He quarreled with his father and, in 2022, volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the start of the special Military Operation by Russia. He took the call sign ‘Lemberg’, the name of Lvov during its occupation by Nazi Germany from 1941-1944.

The father’s personal drama has sparked a wave of sympathy for him among ordinary Ukrainians, many of whom have also lost their sons to the war project of Euromaidan leaders and those Western governments and NGO representatives supporting the ‘fight for freedom’ in Ukraine.

The entire Ukrainian political establishment gathered for the funeral of the slain ‘Maidan’ organizer in Lvov on September 2. They arrived under heavy security because they are well aware of the angry mood in society. “The entire elite is at Paruiby's funeral. Many of them haven't been seen in a long time. They wouldn't want to part with their friend, would they?” wrote Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy in a one-line comment on Telegram on September 2, accompanied by several photos.

The online news publication Strana believes that one of the motives for Parubiy's murder was to demoralize the Ukrainian elite by showing that none of them should feel safe and none of them will escape public rage and retribution.

Many Ukrainian nationalists still shudder as they recall the extrajudicial executions of Nazi collaborators that swept across Ukraine in 1944, following its liberation by the Soviet Red Army and as the Red Army was defeating the Nazis across Germany and Poland. Thousands of Ukrainian nationalist collaborators, many of whom served as police, prison guards, and executioners, were unable to flee with the retreating Hitlerite troops and suffered a fate they had well earned.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel Resident writes that there is now a certain amount of panic among the political elite, as everyone understands that only the Ukrainian special services could have eliminated such a prominent politician, and they have found a suspect to take the blame and who may soon die in his cell.

Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik believes that Parubiy's killing could complicate negotiations for a settlement of the war. “We are talking about Paruiby's killing at a time when negotiations on a settlement of the war are underway. This killing will complicate the negotiations because it will intensify negative reactions by the patriotic [ultra-nationalist] part of society. The killing has divided society and has caused a situation in which no public figure feels safe,” he writes.

Authorities have taken to glorifying Parubiy, calling him a paragon of democracy and a “symbol of European aspirations.” Parubiy himself once called Adolf Hitler’s rule a “model of democracy”. He acknowledged that he had admired Hitler since his youth. “I myself am a huge supporter of direct democracy. By the way, I will tell you that the greatest person who practiced direct democracy was Adolf Hitler in the 1930s,” he once told live television. This, of course, underlines that the need for a ‘denazification’ in Ukraine is not some fabrication dreamed up by the leaders of the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian analytical Telegram channel Rubicon has explained that when a person speaks enthusiastically about, say, Vladimir Lenin and shares his political positions taken in his lifetime, then, in principle, he can be called a ‘Leninist’. Parubiy, Rubicon writes, can thus be regarded as a 100% Hitlerite, a fact which Parubiy himself never hid. Nevertheless, as commander of Euromaidan, head of the National Security and Defense Council, and speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Parubiy was quite acceptable to Western leaders, despite protests from anti-fascists.

In the early 1990s, Andriy Parubiy was the organizer of the Social-Nationalist Party of Ukraine, which was modeled after the name of Adolf Hitler's National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). He was the “commandant of the Maidan” in 2013-2014, leading a wing of nationalist militants who carried out the coup, aided in part by students affiliated with Western NGOs. At the time, Western media would only film young men and women carrying posters about “democracy” and “freedom”, leaving the core, armed neo-Nazi militants out of the frame.

Artem Dmitruk, a former legislator from Zelensky's party who has fled to London, comments on the killing of Parubiy and recalls the ‘forgotten footage’ from the Maidan riots of 2014. His message posted on Telegram on September 1 shows the paramilitaries carrying weapons in bags to Maidan Square in central Kiev, preparing to shoot at police seeking to stem violence and killings. “Here, Parubiy is seen together with the militants carrying the bags of weapons as they prepare for more terrorist acts.

There are many such photos and videos. Naturally, these are shown less and less often these days, with attempts made to hide them by any means possible because they destroy the beautiful legend of an ‘honest struggle against dictatorship and Russian influence’,” recalls the former ally of Zelensky
Parubiy is considered one of the organizers of the arson attack and massacre in the city of Odessa on May 2, 2014, against anti-coup protesters. Ultranationalists set fire to the large and historic Trade Union House in the center of the city, constructed of stone, where protesters had taken refuge from violent attacks against them. The ultra-nationalists, aided by like-minded paramilitaries, killed 48 of those inside, some of whom were beaten to death after jumping from windows.

Nationalist Vitaly Portnikov (from Petro Poroshenko's political circle) indignantly told the Espresso TV channel on August 31 that people are rejoicing at Parubiy's killing in Odessa, as well as in the cities of Kiev, Kharkov, and Dnipropetrovsk. Based on surveying responses on social media, he concludes that many residents of Odessa remain carriers of the ‘Russian mentality’.

“They risk death every day from Russian bombs, but they continue to be representatives of Russian political philosophy. For them, Parubiy is still a greater enemy than Putin. They still think that if there were no people like Parubiy, they would live in cordial understanding with Russia,” Portnikov says indignantly.

Ukrainian politician Sergei Dorotich, another one who has been forced to flee the country for his safety, says that Parubiy's murder closes a chapter of the story of the arson massacre in Odessa. “Now there is no one to ask, because corpses don't answer questions. We will never get answers to our questions at this rate,” Dorotich concludes.

Oleg Tsarev, a former member of the Rada who moved to Russia after the Euromaidan coup, wrote in his blog on September 3, “Apparently, Parubiy's killer took revenge for his son. Sooner or later, the people of Ukraine will start killing representatives of the authorities for all the evil they have done to Ukraine and the grief they have brought. Paruiby is just the beginning.”

Legislator Alexander Dubinsky writes that Parubiy's killer, who says he acted out of revenge against the Ukrainian authorities who started the war with Russia in which his son died, is sending a signal to all legislators of Zelensky’s ‘Servant of the People’ party, to Poroshenko, to government cabinet officials, and to Zelensky himself. In his opinion, all of them may not live long enough to appear before investigative tribunals or hang from lampposts.

“I certainly condemn murder and any other forms of violence. But try to ask yourself one terrible question: did the father who lost his son have a legitimate motive and moral justification? The answer will be frightening,” writes the legislator and former ally of Zelensky, who has been accused of treason and has been held in prison since 2023.

Ukrainian army volunteer Andriy Chudovsky, a blogger now living in Germany and fundraising for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, says that the killing has opened a very dangerous Pandora's box, pointing back to the Maidan coup. “And now they are reaping the fruits of this opening the box, first and foremost, it considers those who opened this box and thought that it would not affect them in any way. In other words, the revolution is devouring its children in the literal sense,” Chudovsky believes.

Ukrainian dissident and former political prisoner Ruslan Kotsaba believes that Parubiy's killing will inspire new and similar acts. He writes, “There were more bodyguards than mourners at the funeral [of Paruiby] funeral at St. George's Cathedral. Do you understand where this is all leading? The authorities know this, and they are afraid.”

Another former Ukrainian political prisoner, Dmitry Vasilets, predicts that similar acts of revenge will spread and will not be limited to Ukrainian politicians. “When the man said that his action was taken in revenge against Ukrainian authorities, he was referring primarily to revenge for the fact that his son had been effectively taken from him by NATO war propaganda. This shows us how deep the roots of the current civil war in Ukraine are.

There will be more and more such vigilante acts because the truth is coming out, and as a result, more and more men and women are seeing that British, American, German and Polish political and military leaders behind all the bloodshed,” He writes that Western politicians, such as former British prime minister Boris Johnson, who directly sabotaged prospects for an early peace in March/April 2022, also live somewhere and go to restaurants.

Vasilets himself was imprisoned in Ukraine after the Euromaidan coup. He now lives in Russia, thanks to one of the exchange of prisoners of war between the Kiev regime and the Russian Federation.

Undoubtedly, such acts of individual terrorism as occurred in Lvov on August 31 cannot eliminate or settle the causes of the conflict in Ukraine. In his time, Vladimir Lenin called such actions ineffective. He spoke from personal experience and tragedy: his older brother Aleksandr was executed in 1887 precisely on charges of taking part in an assassination attempt against the Russian emperor, Tsar Alexander III.

Such acts, Lenin wrote, are ultimately acts of despair. Neo-Nazis like Parubiy are interchangeable, and there are plenty of young, neo-Nazis in Ukraine, willing to gladly take his place. Western politicians will welcome them in exactly the same way, painting over in their reports and removing from their media the Nazi emblems they wear Hitler salutes they deliver.

The root cause of the conflict in Ukraine can only be resolved by the anti-war and anti-Nazi people of Ukraine taking into our hands our own destiny and that of the country, which will emerge from the approaching defeat of neo-Nazism and the US-NATO proxy war.

We have many difficult obstacles to overcome to make that happen. In this, we are greatly aided by the Russian citizens in uniform who are destroying the army of coup Ukraine, led by neo-Nazi ideologues such as Andriy Parubiy. Residents of Western countries have a vital support role to play in this.

They should be calling out and condemning their governments’ direct participation in this disastrous war. They should condemn the offensive use of the taxes being imposed upon them to pay for it.

US reduced role in Ukraine

As the Ukraine conflict continues into its third year, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said on Friday, September 19, that Europe should prepare to take on greater responsibility for Ukraine aid in the event of reduced support from Washington

“Better to be prepared. I don't think America will withdraw fully, but it's best that Europe stands on its own two feet,” Kellogg told The Telegraph.

The special envoy added, “at this point, Europe is almost self-sufficient in sustaining Ukraine's war effort through the cohesion we haven't seen before.”

Kellogg’s remarks reflect growing speculation over what a potential second Trump administration might mean for US engagement in the war. Trump has repeatedly criticized the scale of US military spending abroad and called on European allies to “pay their fair share.”

Russia warns NATO over arms supplies to Ukraine

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s warnings over Western military support for Ukraine, stating that any shipment of weapons to Ukrainian forces would be considered a legitimate target.

Lavrov’s ministry said that NATO member states were “playing with fire” by continuing to supply weapons to Ukraine, warning that such actions escalated tensions and risked broader confrontation.

The Russian foreign minister further accused the United States and NATO of being “directly involved” in the Ukraine conflict, citing both arms shipments and military training programs.

“The US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, not only by supplying weapons but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries,” Lavrov said.

Moscow has repeatedly argued that the flow of weapons and equipment from the West undermines the possibility of diplomatic solutions to the war.

Self Determination (international law)

Self-determination denotes the legal right of people to decide their own destiny in the international order.

Self-determination is a core principle of international law, arising from customary international law, but also recognized as a general principle of law, and enshrined in a number of international treaties.

For instance, self-determination is protected in the United Nations Charter and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights as a right of “all peoples.”

The scope and purpose of the principle of self-determination has evolved significantly in the 20th century. In the early 1900’s, international support grew for the right of all people to self-determination.

This led to successful secessionist movements during and after WWI, WWII and laid the groundwork for decolonization in the 1960s.

Contemporary notions of self-determination usually distinguish between “internal” and “external” self-determination, suggesting that "self-determination" exists on a spectrum.

Internal self-determination may refer to various political and social rights; by contrast, external self-determination refers to full legal independence/secession for the given 'people' from the larger politico-legal state.

See, e.g.:

Independence of Kosovo (from Serbia), advisory proceedings currently pending before the ICJ.
Independence of Abhkazia (from Georgia).

Macron: Seizing frozen Russian
assets would break international law

France’s President Emmanuel Macron warns that seizing frozen Russian central bank assets would violate international law and risk “total chaos,” as EU leaders debate options to support Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron warned on Sunday that confiscating Russian central bank assets frozen in European clearing houses would violate international law and risk unleashing “total chaos.”

He made the remarks during an interview with CBS News, stressing that European countries must remain “predictable” and compliant with legal norms when handling sovereign assets.

Macron said that even in the current geopolitical context, “you cannot seize these assets from the central bank,” adding that respecting international law is essential for credibility and stability. He further noted that confiscation is a step that could trigger widespread legal and financial repercussions across global markets.

The frozen assets, held primarily by Euroclear, a Belgium-based central securities depository, have accumulated profits as they mature. These profits are already being earmarked to repay a $50 billion loan the G7 raised for Ukraine’s reconstruction amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

While the European Commission has resisted direct asset seizure, it is exploring riskier reinvestment strategies to boost returns. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed efforts are advancing to channel those returns toward Ukraine’s defense and rebuilding efforts.

The comments come as EU institutions and member states debate how to make frozen Russian assets available to support Ukraine.

Russian tit-for-tat

European Commission proposals have explored using a portion of the assets to back loans or special-purpose bonds for Ukraine rather than outright confiscation, an approach intended to avoid direct legal seizure while delivering funds.

Meanwhile, Moscow has warned that attempts to appropriate its frozen assets would be treated as theft and could prompt legal and non-legal reprisals.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova previously said that Russia possesses a "wide arsenal" of economic and political countermeasures if the West seizes its sovereign assets, including a tit-for-tat confiscation of Western assets in Russia.

Zakharova highlighted that Russia has a substantial amount of Western assets, including funds and property, under its governance, warning that they could all be subject to seizure as part of the Russian response.

"All of it may be subject to Russian retaliatory policy and retaliatory actions. The arsenal of political and economic countermeasures is wide," she said, without revealing the nature of the possible retaliatory actions.

Russia rejects Trump’s ‘paper tiger’
remark cites gains in Ukraine

Russia rejected US President Donald Trump’s description of Moscow as a “paper tiger,” with Dmitry Peskov insisting the country is economically stable and making cautious military gains in Ukraine

Russia dismissed comments from US President Donald Trump, who described Moscow as a “paper tiger” and urged Ukraine to take advantage of Russia’s supposed economic weakness to reclaim occupied territory.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded on Wednesday, attributing Trump’s remarks to his recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

“Of course, President Trump heard Zelenskiy’s version of events. And apparently at this point, this version is the reason for the assessment we heard,” Peskov told RBC radio.

Peskov dismissed the “paper tiger” comparison outright: “Russia is a bear, not a tiger. And there is no such thing as a paper bear.”

Dmitry Peskov defends Russian military strategy

Addressing the situation on the battlefield, Peskov said the Russian army is advancing deliberately and cautiously in Ukraine.

“These are very deliberate actions,” he said. “We are moving forward very carefully to minimise losses and to preserve offensive potential.”

He added that those unwilling to negotiate with Moscow now would face tougher conditions in the future: “The dynamics show that for those unwilling to negotiate now, the position will be much worse tomorrow and the day after.”

Peskov also stated that the situation for Ukraine is much worse now than in the Spring of 2022.

"Apparently, they are trying to demonstrate to both their sponsors in Europe and their handlers that they can fight," the Kremlin spokesperson added.

Western analysts, however, attribute the lack of a Russian breakthrough to Ukraine’s strong defense and the attrition of both armies after more than three and a half years of war.

Kremlin insists Russian economy remains stable

Turning to the economy, Peskov rejected the idea that Russia is collapsing under sanctions. “Russia maintains its resilience. Russia maintains macroeconomic stability,” he said.

He acknowledged that sanctions and global market turbulence have created “tensions and problem areas,” but insisted that the Russian economy remains intact despite Western restrictions.

On Tuesday, Trump had surprised observers with a sharp rhetorical shift, writing on Truth Social: “Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act.”

The US president suggested Kiev could regain all of its occupied land, despite Russia still controlling about one-fifth of Ukraine’s territory.

Peskov reiterated that Moscow views negotiations as the only way to resolve the conflict. He suggested Ukraine’s hesitation could worsen its future bargaining position, stressing Russia’s cautious but continued military progress.

The new ‘donor-nomics’ in Ukraine
thanks to Western governments and taxpayers

In the second half of September 2025, military and political leaders in Ukraine are in unanimous agreement that the military situation in the country continues to deteriorate. But the public messaging by Kiev regime president Volodomyr Zelensky continues to insist that Ukraine will “win the war”

Detached from reality

Foreign Policy magazine claims otherwise in a report published on September 16, headlined ‘Zelensky is losing touch with reality’. The report begins: “In the course of the last month, Ukraine’s government has pushed two significant measures related to one of its most glaring weaknesses: its strained armed forces.

Yet its attempts to ease the strains have landed awkwardly in Ukraine, leaving some observers wondering whether President Volodymyr Zelensky and his circle of advisors are adequately in touch with reality beyond the corridors of power in Kiev…”

The discordance is noted by Ukrainians as well. “Zelensky has overstayed his president’s term and has lost touch with reality. We have no independent legislature governing us that could say ‘stop’, only the will of Zelensky. He believes himself to be the Churchill of our times, where everything is decided by him alone, together with a few of his ‘efficient’ managers,” writes Darya Kalenyuk on September 17. She is a journalist, a lawyer, and the executive director in Ukraine of the Center for Countering Corruption.

That same day, Ukrainian legislators and pro-regime analysts were gushing about the results of a closed meeting by Zelensky with his ‘Servant of the People’ political machine and other invited legislators on September 16. According to legislator Yaroslav Zheleznyak of the ‘Golos’ political faction, Zelensky told the meeting that his regime refuses to consider ceding any territory in the Donbas region to Russia.

The regime continues to refuse any recognition of the expressed will of the people of the former Ukrainian oblasts (‘provinces’) of Lugansk and Donetsk since 2014 for either a meaningful autonomy within Ukraine or secession and joining the Russian Federation
As later reported by Zheleznyak, Zelensky told legislators that the military situation in Ukraine “is developing normally” and Russian forces will eventually be defeated.

The people of the two former Ukrainian oblasts voted
definitively in September 2022 to join the Russian Federation
For them and for the Russian government, the future is decided, and there is no going back. (Proposals were also approved at that time by referendum for affiliation to the Russian Federation by the people of the ‘new Russian territories’ of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, south and east of the Dnieper River.)

According to Zheleznyak, Zelensky also told the closed meeting that people regularly complain about him to Western embassies, and the embassies then forward the complaints to him. If true, this is a remarkable description of how Western embassies act. It is not difficult to imagine the regime forwarding such complaints to its various police agencies.

Another participant in the meeting on September 16 was legislator Oleksandr Fedienko. He writes that Zelensky raised the topic of legislative elections. Fedienko also notes that whereas many observers are now predicting that an election will take place in Ukraine in the near future, Zelensky dismissed the idea at the meeting.

The last legislative and presidential elections to take place in Ukraine were in April 2019, for five-year terms. The electoral mandates of Zelensky and the Verkhovna Rada (legislature) thus expired a full 18 months ago.

Strana online media outlet reports on Telegram on September 17 about another legislator from Zelensky’s party who was present at the meeting, George Mazurashu. He said afterward, “Volodomyr Zelensky (along with others exempt from conscription) made it clear that he intends to fight to the last, but, of course, using other people to do the fighting.”

These days in Ukraine, such statements are considered simple statements of fact, considering that Zelensky and his entourage play no direct part in hostilities and thus face no direct threat to their lives. People also see and read in their words desperate attempts to prolong the war with Russia by involving other countries in the hostilities.

How to perpetuate Western funding for the Ukrainian elite

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian political elite is actively engaged in ensuring not so much the talked-about ‘security guarantees’ for Ukraine but guarantees of continued Western revenues (thus permitting the elite’s own, continued maintenance). This elite is continuously dreaming of how much it can continue to receive from Western ‘partners’ (that is, from the taxpayers of Western, ‘partner’ governments).

In mid-September, the Kiev regime’s cabinet of ministers presented a draft budget for the following year, and it once again envisions no spending on a national election, neither legislative nor presidential. The projected Ukrainian national budget for 2026 turns out to be not only record-breaking in expenditure but also extremely odd in failing to provide certain details.

The main oddity at the present time is a now-recognized ‘hole’ of some UAH300 billion (US$7.3 billion) in funding of military expenditure for the closing months of 2025. The ‘hole’ is due to sharp increases in payments being made to the families of soldiers killed or injured, so-called ‘coffin payments’.

The duration of payments may now be extended to 80 months (6.5 years), during which time the Ukrainian currency is expected to be seriously devalued (and, most likely, a different government will be responsible for dealing with the entire mess of government funding and expenditure bequeathed by the Zelensky regime and its Western ‘partners’).

Social expenditures, including payment of pensions, the social costs of radical, ultra-nationalist policies, repairs of roads and other infrastructure, all these budget items are expected to be fully and completely financed by Western benefactors. That will mean, first and foremost, payments coming from the leading EU governments. These are already warning their populations to tighten their belts and expect big cuts to social spending.

The new phenomenon of ‘donor-nomics’ in Ukraine

On September 18, the former head of the Ukraine National Bank, Kyrylo Shevchenko, penned a new term for the economic model now firmly implanted in Ukraine, calling it ‘donor-nomics’. He writes that this is “a completely new type of economy and economic policy, completely dependent on external aid”. Its essence is a budget deficit of more than 20% of GDP, with this being covered not by internal resources but by external grants and loans.

“If in a conventional economy, the main goal is to create added value, under donor-nomics, the main goal is to maintain the confidence of donors so that each tranche of new funding may flow smoothly,” writes Shevchenko.

Legislator Yaroslav Zheleznyak admits that not only legislators in Ukraine but also appointed ministers are primarily engaged in creating projects that no one has the funding, nor perhaps even the intention to implement. Financing of projects is being determined by the whims and interests of donors, principally from Western governments.

Zheleznyak says that for six years (since 2019), Ukraine has been overwhelmed with high-profile strategies and programs for change, but these have remained “on paper” only. Authorities have presented more than 20 state programs during these six years, ranging from national security, including cybersecurity, to regional development. But none of them has ever been realized in real life.

“These programs exist only in promises, presentations, and press releases by officials. In practice, citizens do not see any changes and improvements in life,” the legislator writes, stressing that what happens instead are “political imitations” of real projects. He calls this “imitation of work”.

The problem for the regime is that the political and economic elite of Ukraine can only continue receiving Western funding so long as it is actively fighting Russia, or pretending to do so. Without this, the entire Ukrainian elite would be deprived of its main sources of income and left alone to deal with a plundered and war-torn country whose economic future is already owed to governments and financial institutions of the wealthy, imperialist world.

In the face of this grim outlook, legislator Oleksandr Dubynskyy believes that a scenario becomes quite realistic in which Ukraine, disappointed with Europe, turns to a resumption of economic relations with Russia.

Russian analysts and politicians have long expressed that they are tired of this tactic as used by the ruling elites of post-Soviet republics, so much so that they did not mind if the exorbitant appetites of former Soviet leaders were satisfied by Western governments and their taxpaying base in the years following 1990/91.

Desire to draw Poland into the conflict

As the situation on the front lines in late September continues to deteriorate for Ukraine, new incidents and provocations against Russia have multiplied, with the aim of drawing more countries into the conflict. In particular, an alleged entry of two dozen Russian drones flying into Polish airspace late on September 9 (local time) has been actively used for this purpose. The drones were not armed and did not cause any casualties or destruction. The one dwelling that was damaged was hit by a Polish missile aimed at some of the drones.

One of the images of an offending Russian drone shows a Russian Gerbera imitation drone normally used for air defense distraction resting neatly on the roof of a chicken coop. Had it fallen, the drone would have destroyed the roof at the very least. The photo also shows the nose of the drone wrapped in duct tape =))
Russian factories produce such disposable drones by the thousands; they are never reused nor repaired with duct tape or anything similar because there is no way to repurpose them, and certainly no use of duct tape to make repairs.

The pictured drone is obviously one that previously fell somewhere in Ukraine and was then repaired and reused for the purpose of simulating a ‘Russian incursion’. In other words, the drone looks like a poorly prepared, false-flag provocation
Despite the flimsy evidence of Russian drones over Poland, the entirety of Ukrainian media and political leaders have been clamoring ever since, calling upon the Polish government to mount a military response and join the military conflict with Russia. For his part, Zelensky has sought to tap into the vanity of Poles by saying that the Russian government and military are seeking to humiliate Poland.

Ukrainian-Israeli expert Yigal Levin, who works for the Ukrainian defense ministry's intelligence service, is further inflaming the situation by claiming that the drones flown into Poland were aimed at American soldiers stationed in Rzeszów, Poland.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga is demanding that foreign militaries engage in shooting down Russian drones over Ukrainian territory. The aim is to frighten Poles with messaging that “a weak response now will provoke Russia even more, and then Russian missiles and drones will begin flying further into the depths of Europe.”

Escalate the West’s proxy war against Russia?

In an interview with Sky News on September 16, Zelensky said that the countries of Europe and the United States should stop “thinking about themselves” and their future relations with the Russian Federation and think more about Ukraine.

In essence, he is demanding that the West sacrifice its interests and those of its citizens for the sake of preserving Zelensky’s shaky hold on power
Trump's special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, who is considered one of Kiev's closest friends in the West, is encouraging Zelensky to escalate the West’s proxy war against Russia. He attended the annual meeting in Kiev on September 13 of the ‘Yalta European Strategy’ (‘YES’) foundation.

“We had a discussion about the ‘primacy’ of the Russian military, and I said, ‘we would kick their ass together’,” Kellogg told reporters there. (This is hardly the language of a U.S. presidency seeking ‘peace’ with Russia, as many Western analysts falsely describe the Trump-led war regime in Washington.)

The Ukrainian Telegram channel Legitimny believes that Kiev itself launched drones into Poland in order to increase anti-Russian sentiment there and in the wider world. It says the drone story serves as a means to demand ever more money for waging war against Russia (with the acknowledged US$3.2 billion ‘hole’ in military support payments for 2025 no doubt in mind)
Former Polish President Andrzej Duda recently acknowledged that Ukraine has been trying to drag Poland into a war with Russia since 2022. “It's in their interest to drag everyone into war, and it would be especially good for them if they managed to drag NATO countries into the war... This is not news. It has been happening since the first day [of the Russian military operation],” the former president said in an interview.

Furthermore, as Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on September 14, a ‘troubling’ wave of pro-Russian sentiment and hostility toward Ukraine is currently growing in Poland. Tusk blames Moscow for the growth of these sentiments (as though the Russian government has some mystical hold on the hearts and minds of the Polish people).

Oleg Jasinski, a Ukrainian journalist writing from abroad, also believes that the ‘Russian drone raid’ story serves one side in the conflict very well, that being the same side which became terribly upset about the two-day summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tianjin, China on August 31/September 1.

There, the Russian government's role was front and center, and the government of India was a participant. According to Jasinski, the West’s only salvation from military and political defeat in Ukraine is an escalation of direct participation by all of Europe’s governments and militaries.

The Polish Gazeta Wyborcza writes that many Poles have begun looking for residences abroad following the claimed drone incident on September 9. The newspaper says the number of applications from Poland to buy real estate in Spain has tripled.

Strana wrote on September 15 that Poles themselves and their economy do not need a war, as Poland is now one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union.

“In addition,” Strana writes, “everyone in recent years has been able to see, repeatedly, that Polish attitudes to Ukraine and Ukrainians are, to put it mildly, ambiguous. They are not at all very eager to join the fighting in Ukraine.” Despite this, Strana notes, the topic of Poland's entry into the war is constantly being discussed by certain media and Western political leaders.

The Russian Federation does not need a conflict with Poland. It doesn’t need a ‘second front’ because a significant part of the Russian army is already deployed in Ukraine
Strana also recalls that there is a widespread theory in Ukraine that the Western ‘party of war’ is seeking to involve certain European countries directly in the war with Russia on the side of Ukraine, but they would choose to do so outside the framework of NATO so that it would not look like a direct NATO war against Russia. Russian officials are not fooled. They have stated that direct military intervention by NATO countries in Ukraine, even at the level of a ‘no-fly’ zone over the country, would cause war with the NATO bloc.

For Zelensky and his regime, a full-out war between Russia and NATO would be a welcome opportunity to preserve themselves in power and prolong their funding courtesy of obedient Western taxpayers
