The best time of a Fast is when you break it.

But this week-end, no Lent, only Mum's birthday party.

I remember each Remezan, month of fasting, it was used to become the season of eating every thing. Cocktails of sweets and food prepared for the evening and early morning meals. On the other hand when I was becoming hungry, I was going to eat something in hiding like Masood of East Enders, except he was not hiding but asking people not to tell his family. My father was proud of me because I was not so hungry and was not rushing like every one else to break my fast.

Ramazan is very hard, i never coud observe it because of thirst. It is easy to endure hunger during all a day, the hardest part is to not drink. Not healthy. Our body needs water. Nomads in desertic sahara are training to drink liters once a day, and to not drink hours and hours, but if you have not the genetic ability of a bedouin, it is a supplice.

So after a week end of gastronomic debauchery, I come back in the land of vertuous life.

This day, a breakfast of chococoffee, bread, honey, smashed apples and pears,

The meal of the day :

Shrimps nems, lettuce, rice, vegetable soup. O:-)

Not so bad if we consider that it has a lot of vegetables and not much low carbs except the bread. Of course, in a same day, meat, fish and eggs would upset the veggies.

What I like in it is that it has no sugar or sweeties stuff.

And COFFE :ymhug:

But is has no cheese, so rather than meat I could replace it by cheese at evening.

Beer is ok, I like it also.

I have stopped drinking diet coke

Weak black tea is probably much better for me :-D

I still eat salads in the morning but the rest of the day depends on who I am with and if they can cook :D

It is bad because it has egg, coffee, soup, meat, milk and beer.

Bread is not bad. You don't become fat because of carb diets, you become fat because you eat too much because your diet is not nutritious enough. As long as your body lacks nutrition you feel hungry to eat more.

I know that refined white flour is bad for people - as is refined white sugar

I am never sure about coffee because I am not a coffee drinker

It is not bad but it is poor nutritiously. So you have to eat breads of refined flour more than necessary to satisfy your body's nutrition needs. For example in the case of refined rice, white rice, when refined from whole grain rice, brown rice, 3/4 of nutrition wasted. I assume the same thing happens when whole grain wheat refined to make refined white flour.

Coffee is bad because it has caffeine. It is a sort of poison damages digestive internal cover tissues on the long term.

Pasta sauce with as much sugar as a Mars bar and soup as sweet as cider:
We reveal how much of the white stuff is lurking in your favourite foods

By Anna Hodgekiss

Millions of us are unwittingly eating everyday foods packed with sugar
High levels can be found in less obvious foods, such as sauces and soup
500g jar of Dolmio bolognaise sauce contains more than 6 cubes of sugar
500ml of orange juice contains 10 cubes and a mango contains 9
Experts say we should eat no more than 10 cubes of added sugar a day
Evidence shows too much sugar is contributing to obesity and diabetes

Do you have any idea how much sugar you're eating? It's probably a lot more than you think.

As this shocking graphic reveals, millions of us are unwittingly eating everyday foods packed with sugar - and getting fatter in the process.

While some culprits, such as Coca-Cola and ice cream are well known (and used here for comparison purposes), there are many other less obvious foods - such as pasta sauce, soup and so-called healthy granola - that are loaded with the white stuff.

For example, a 500g jar of Dolmio bolognaise sauce contains more than six cubes of sugar - the same as a Mars bar.

And Heinz tomato soup is on par with Bulmer's cider in the sweetness stakes, with five cubes.

Image

Even a ‘healthy' fruit such as a mango contains nine cubes. However the sugars in milk, vegetables and pieces of fruit (as opposed to fruit juice), including dried fruit, do not wreak as much havoc.

So if you’re getting most of your sugar from these sources, you can eat up to 18 cubes daily.

More and more evidence suggests that too much sugar is contributing to the obesity and diabetes epidemic.

It is the sheer quantity of sugar that we consume that creates the problem, says Roy Taylor, professor of medicine and metabolism at Newcastle University.

‘Sugar calories slip down so easily and lead to weight gain.’
