Shafi'i

Arabic: mâlikiyya

School of Shari'a, the law system of Sunni Islam, today used in eastern Africa, North Iraq, Bahrain, south of the Arabian peninsula and in Indonesia.
The Shafi'i school is based upon the theories of the Islamic theologian Abu Abdullah ash-Shafi'i (767- 820). He was from 804 until 810 a student of Malik, the founder of one of the other schools.
Shafi'is orientation can be defined as a middle road between the other schools of the time, with a balance between devine will and human speculation. He put the emphasis on the Hadith and Koran, not allowing the practice of later Muslims to be used as an example for law. In the cases where there was no clear directions given in the Koran or the Hadith, he allowed the use of analogy, qiyas, to develop law regulations, and in some cases even consensus of scholars, ijma'

my point was "you can make the coran say anything you want, the best as the worse". I prefer the best part of course :)

Well reading coran you can interpret it as a religion of peace or as a call for slaughter.

Same thing with the bible, fundamentalists in the state interpret bible as an answer to everything and a call for Holy war.

And what's original with Islam is that there is not only Coran but also the Haddith, the interpretations...written centuries after the death of the prophet. So you probably can find haddith that say that women are equal to men, another one saying they should stay at home... And in some countries the tradition is seen as a religious precept, like in Afghanistan where they mix Pashtounwali and Coran...

With Coran you can find some amazing interpretations, very modern, very secular, but it is very intellectual, and the crowds don't follow these interpretations.

Anyway I don't want to take part in a religious discussion, you're a bit to upset these days, and anyway I'm atheist.
