Kurdish clothes - Why don't Kurds wear them?

This is where you can talk about every subject (previously it was called shout room)

sorry but I do not think that I am wrong, I have never seen kurdish guys in such clothes, if I see some I do not know if he or she is a turk, kurd, german, italian or something else.

the people, I mean the kurds, look like all other peoples living here.

only the eldery persons, or let me say only the women wear them

and something else: I have not say that I do not wear kurdish clothes :-s , I wear them sometimes and the people in rîha wear them too.

our clothes are so beautiful, it is tragic that the kurds here adapt to the german people, all of them had forgotten where they are coming from and I am nat supporting this [-X

your pictures are very good, I am glad that you do not have forgotten where you are coming from.

Echt gut die Fotos =D>

In my home village we organized a Kurdish dance night for the holiday of Purim, about a month and a half ago. Since 99% of the population in the village is Kurdish Jewish, the evening was a great success, of course. Too bad I can't upload the DVD file here!

It's really interesting, though, I've never heard of Chepi, only Chopi -- even though Kurdish Jews come from all kinds of areas in Kurdistan, and there is variation in language (some speak Sorani, some Kurmanci, etc.)

Hello Hawk! :)

Thank you birayê delal... You are most welcome... And very glad you enjoyed it!

Oh that sounds like a LOT of fun! :D Where aproximately are you based?

True, Jewish Kurds are from all over Kurdistan... North to South and East to West... But originally, I guess the Jews who were exhiled where based around Hewlêr and Duhok... Because that is where the Babylonians exhiled the Jews to... And Duhok is Kurmancî speaking, while Hewlêr is Soranî speaking... They must have spread out with time... Because today there are Jewish Kurds everywhere - Amed, Mehabad, Silêmanî or Wan... :)

please tell me what you are looking on german tv, you are not talking "HOCHDEUTSCH" (standard German), your german is like the real germans with accent, really good! =D>

have forgot something:

wischtisch is the right word but there are mistakes in its writing
try it with "wichtig"! it will be better.

and i can not influence others to wear kurdish clothes, the people in my home village are to criticising me because i am wearing kurdish clothes, it will be impossible to convince them of this clothes. :(

Sehr gut... Dankeshön :)

But like I said: I don't speak German... I never had a conversation in German with anybody...

However, I do know a lot of German, because it's so simple to learn - since I speak Norwegian and English... :)

Jooooooo... (I know this is very "ugly" German - but I like it, it's funny  )

Lass uns kurdisch sprechen, mein schewster... :)

most nation lost their traditional wearings. Specially at cities.

People wear treaditional cloths only at villages.

That is true, yes...

But Kurdistan is a special case, where most of the land of rural... Kurdistan was never centralized, untill the Turkish army started burning down villages - resulting in over 6000 burned villages - which along with the rest of assimilation policies of the Turkish government, meant: 3 million internal refugees in Turkey...

Most fled to Amed, and Wan - but a lot of them also fled to Mersin, Adana, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir etc...

But in a natural setting, Kurds use their national clothes no matter in city or not - even in Amed, most Kurds in Amed are from the surrounding villages which were burnt down, so they keep wearing Kurdish clothes...

And as Kurdish Girl suggested: mothers and women do much more than boys and girls...

could you say me what you are meaning with "xeber dey"?

please correct me if I have some mistakes in the kurdish part, I want to change my kurdish for the better :)

Ya Diri how can you learn german off the tv? I studied german for so long (though I hated it) but I've forgotten how to speak it.

 This is funny... I said "xeber dey" because that is what they say in Amed... And I thought maybe it would be closer to your sub-dialect, since you are from Riha... :) But I'll just speak the standard from now on here on Roj Bash, because obviously, I can be wrong about how people speak in some areas

In my sub-dialect: Xeber dan can mean two things: 1) Giving a message or 2) Swearing...

So no... I would have said: Tu Kurdî diaxiwî? "Do you speak Kurdish?"... Or I would say "Tu Kurdî dizanî"?

Bibore, I will speak in standard Kurmancî only from now on... :) And I will try to correct your Kurdish if you like, yes...

Hahaha

I have always been surrounded by German things - TV (25 German channels for 7 years or more) - all my siblings studied German, I was the only one to study French ( )... My father enjoyed watching good movies on German TV... I probably watched Moses, Joseph, Abraham, King David and King Salomon (the religious movies) on German TV 2-3 times each... :)

And don't forget: I speak Norwegian in addition to English, so I can see more "lines" and connect the dots a little easier than an average Englishman can... :)

So don't bust yourself... I wouldn't have been so good if I hadn't spoken Norwegian...

but thats not the contemporary issue!

from my point of view kurds in turkey do not wear their clothes, because they think that the euroean culture is better than their own one.

the other point is that the turks separate people, who wear them out!
so people stop wear their clothes because they do not want to be outsiders. :x :x

This used to be traditional clothes in Zeeland (Netherlands), but globalisation will make the majority want to wear levis and eat mcdonalds... it not exclusively a kurdish problem. If we try to wear traditional clothes at least during feasts/parties it would be nice.
