Is it a boy after nine girls or the tenth girl ?

I want to share this story with you. It's a real story of a friend of mine. I translated it into English and shared it in many other forums I am a member in ... I have two questions at the end to see your opinions about the issue of- better having boys or girls first ?. As I said it is a real story and the narrator is his sister " I mean my friend's sister ".His sister is telling what was going on and expressing her feeling when the family had got the first boy after nine girl.

Is it a boy after nine girls or the tenth girl ?

Quietness prevailed everywhere in the big house , everybody went out except my mother and me .
I tried to use the time they were out to finish reading the novel .
I felt my mother came near to me and wanted to say something but she hesitated till I asked her
" what's the matter mother ?
she replied " nothing " .
then she went out and came back again
I'm in a small pain", she said.
"Oh! Alright, I'll call father" I replied.
She quickly cut in, "No, call your brother, he's in so-and- so's house "
Soon, my brother came in the house wondering,
"What's going on?" He asked.
"Mom's in pain" I replied.
He grinned and said,
"I'll call for a car."
He went away for a few minutes and came back with his friend's car,
"Come on," he said.
Oh my god this is improbable!
My mom is going to ride in a white car that is ornamented with red flowers
with nice decorations that takes the bride to her wedding party!
It took me a long time to convince her into that car,
and may pain forced her
the specialist in the clinic that has been ordered to take her to the hospital.
I don't know why I was trembling,
was it fear that I have for my mother or worrying that she would give birth to the tenth girl.
"Shouldn't father come soon?" I asked my brother.
"All right, let's get mother to the hospital first then I'll go tell dad," he replied.
My father came with worries on his face,
we were staring at each other with silent,
and the conversation has shown in our eyes.
Is it going to be the tenth girl
or second boy?
Will my mother be in good health?
What would my father feel if it's the tenth girl?
I know that he loves girls, but everybody wants a boy.
I started to pray while I was trembling, as if I was sitting among pieces of ice.
Oh God, please let it be a boy.
Oh God, please let it be a boy.
I couldn't think of anything else but pray.
Suddenly,
the sound of baby came,
Sooner or later, the nurse came out from the birth room.
Come'n talk, I look at my father, his eyes were entreating to her saying please bring good news.
"It's a boy... it's a boy.... congratulation it's a boy!" the nurse said with tears in her eyes.
I saw the beauty of all woman in her.
My brother laughed and said, "He will oblige me to do military service!"
My emotions were mixed,
and my eyes were fill with tears because of the intense emotions
My father sat on the nearest chair and his eyes were bright, and he smiled then laughed
. He couldn't find a word to describe what is going on within him.
My brother went to convey the goods news to the others
and we prepared to go back home.
I got into the birthroom and hold him, forgetting to felicitate my mother.
I felt his warmness and his soft cheeks. I then kiss his cheeks and carries him.
I felt that I could be the distinctive among my sisters that I'm the first to kiss and carry the new born baby boy.
We returned back home after an hour on her childbearing when all
relatives,....... neighbors,............. sisters...........
are waiting for us.
It was the first boy after nine girls.
When we got off the car, my brother shoot the gun that belongs to my father to express his happiness Neighbors cheered ,
I was boasting when he was in my hands
When we get into the house , ,my little sister shouted and said , " Mother !" let her open the nappy to see whether it's a boy or a girl ?

My questions are :

Why usually parents prefer the first baby to be a boy ? especially mothers

What do you prefer your first baby to be,a boy or a girl ? ...

I think I would prefer a boy to be first, and the daughter second, simply because I like the hierarchy with having a son then a daughter. The older son will then feel the need to protect his younger sister.

On the other hand, girls are generally great role models for their siblings, since they are usually calmer, more gentle. So a daughter would serve as a role model for the younger son.

i enjoy the story. my 1st baby ahmet a boy. most fathers want boys to pass on family name. it did not matter to me if boy or girl. ok maybe to make him happy did want a boy too.

i have 3 sisters and 1 younger brother. it is good to have older sister to talk female problems with... so if a your a boy you would want older brother to talk more to i think.
