Oh don't worry about that! :D

They LOVE to have foreigners around in Liberated (Southern) Kurdistan...

Security is VERY high - and you wouldn't face any discrimination/violence from Kurds - because they know how to appreciate foreign/tourist value...

Kurds are probably the most hospitable people in the world - and look - we even went to bed with Turks, Persians and Arabs - but look where THAT got us...

Yet - do not fear that you somehow will be harrassed for being a European lady...

If anything - you'll be given best service around... :)

Just make sure you wear "decent" clothes which don't attract attention... And you are safe! (I mean safe from guys staring at you)

And there are BOUND to be other European girls around...

What type of safeness darling?

It's not like Sarjevo... I'll tell you that much! :D

It's beautiful and security is high... You should watch Kurdistan TV online - maybe you catch one of their clips on Kurdistan - filming everyday life...

http://www.kurdistan.tv???? Right?

kurdish girls dont cover their hair with Hejab...and u dont have to do that either. diri meant dont wear Attractive Sexy Clothings... well thats a good idea for visting anywhere in the whole middle east .

by the way,if you want to go to a city which has many eurpoeans , Slemany (AKA sulaymaniya)city would be a better place for you , there is a good hotel there full of eurpoean tourists . slemany also has an international airtport and its ppl are more liberal than other cities. douhuk is not the center of the Kurdistan .

u didnt say how u found this site .

no I dont, but slemany is ok ,

I suggest you to go to slemany and take a hotel there, then you can visit Dohok by car if u have something to do there.. that would be a better idea.
dohok is smaller than slemany , it doenst have an interntioanl airport.

u would feel more comfotable in slemany with modern hotels.

Bêrîwan... is that a beauty..

Kurdish girls are the prettiest on earth. One girl in a small province almost became first with Miss contest.

From Rojhelat.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Beautiful! :D

Thanks for the pic! 8)

@Sarah

Yes - I meant you shouldn't wear clothes which attract unwanted attention from men/boys... :)

You can wear anything - just not too revealing... (If you don't wany attention I mean)...

Kurdish girls in general do not cover their hair... Only in rural areas - you will see that girls have a little something on their head - but it's just traditional headgear - they don't wear it to cover themselves... Just to look pretty... :)

You will do fine on your own - people are very hospitable and helpful... So you going there alone won't be a problem...

You can travel with no fear of kidnappings or any of that sort...

Kurds love Europeans! Hahaha  They will show you a lot of respect for coming to their country... And generally very curious about you...

Having Europeans around gives a sense of recognition you know... Because it is Western standards and values which Kurdistan feels the closest to... :)

You should like on all trips take precautions... Just do as you would always do - just as if you were going to Spain...

I think you would find it practical to have a shawl around your neck for protection from the sun... It gets HOT and the sun can dangerously warm and piercing - especially for you who is European (skin type) - around 40-45C is what you should expect... :) In Duhok it's a bit cooler I suppose since it's mountainous - but still hot...

I have a friend in Hewlêr now - he said it's about 40C... And that it's too hot to walk around comfortably...

So you should bring sun lotion, glasses and a hat if you feel necessary... :)

Just some tips... :)

If you have anymore questions - don't be shy to ask...

Thanks for all the information you guys, its really useful.

All I need to do now is organise my flight, they have flights from London to Kurdistan.

It good to hear that Kurds like European people I thought they may not.

I've seen kurdish women who wear a coin thing on their head what is this?

Any other information you may find useful please let me know.
