It is unfortunately a side effects of being under a colonial occupation.
We've seen that in every colonized people; for example thinking that having white skin and blue eyes are a sign of beauty when occupied by europeans.
In our case, saying that we are more alike our coloniser brings a higher social status...it sucks but that the reality.
As kurds in turkish-occupied-Kurdistan gets more and more rights, they will hopefully and should be less "ashamed" of being kurds!
