Ur very welcome my friend :) I want to see this website go up soon! The Kolebal is more of a traditional thing than a fashionable one.

I will tell you one thing that I have noticed about the Kolebal... In mostly paintings of old Kurdish fighters (particularly the Hewramî who gave protection to the Iranian Empire years ago) and some newer pictures, they wear the Kolebal when in uniform. I have also heard, weapons have a hard time piercing those things. I am not sure how much truth these two things have but I have heard it often from Hewramî people and family when they talk about the Kolebal. So perhaps, some sort of armor?

I am not quite sure why so many Hewramî people wear that red and black kilow desmal. They wear other ones too, but I just know that one is popular around Hewraman.

I will have a difficult time describing the women's clothing but if I can't find the pics, I will try my best.

i had a complete kurdish dress made for myself when i was in dohuk. the underdress and puffy pants are silver, the outer dress is red with beads hand-sewn on it, and the cover is all red sequins and long, bahdinani style. i was told, over and over that i was berwarî because the berwarî favor red. :P

heval, about the picture you posted with the black and red laçika ser, i have a question. . . in silêmanî i purchased on that seems very much like that only it is black and gray, with very long fringes all around. it is an older piece, made of silk and, of course, it is easy to tell the difference between the texture of this laçika ser from a cotton one because of the feel and drape of the fabric. i understood that this kind of laçika ser is favored by the garmîyanî. is that true?

i also purchased a few laçika ser in amed, black ones and red ones. i noticed that the bakurî seem to like these laçika ser with little puffy, ball-like tassels along the edges. i saw these worn throughout bakur by both men and women, particularly in the villages and countryside. i did not see the same, puffy ball thingys on them in bashur.

i also wore one of the black ones as a shawl one day when i went to the dohuk bazaar. i was with a young zebarî woman, and as we walked along, she said that one of the men who passed us, made a remark that i was palestinian, because of the laçika ser! i was very angry! it was not palestinian! it was ZEBARI!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Hi Cheryl. From my understanding, the laçika ser style in Silêmanî is mainly just the normal fabric, not silk. However the silk ones are popular amongst the Garmîyanî. I have noticed that these silk laçika ser are popular in all cities in the Gûran region, which includes Xaneqîn and Kirmashan. This also includes Hewraman. Even in areas all the way to Sine, the silk laçika ser has been a part of the culture. I think the silk laçika ser with the fringes have just been popular by the Gûranî and Hewramî people, and since Silêmanî and Sine are nearby, they sell in their markets as well.

pepula, this guy was very fortunate that he got lost in the crowd by the time my friend's sister told me what he said. Otherwise I would have removed my laçika ser and strangled him with it.

We met some Barzanî tribesmen peshmerga on the road outside of Shanadar at a checkpoint. They were quite handsome and polite. They wore the red very neatly on their heads and their peshmerga uniforms were immaculate.
