I don't live in the UK - but UCAS is supposed to be the best and most efficient way to apply for the Universities in the UK - I was gonna apply through it myself - for London College of Fashion - but decided not to go there...

Anybody else??? We have dozens of ladies from the UK - so maybe they could fill us in on the info? :)

Hope you don't mind - I just changed your thread name - so that it can draw more attention from people... :) And also people searching via google etc. will find the forums more easily...

Bira - I went and asked on VivaKurdistan for some help - and I got help from a Kurdish sister... :) This is what she said:

Personal statement is actually a written piece which you will have to write regarding what kind of experience you have had in your life regarding medicine. You need to write about why you have chosen the course, what do u like about medicince? talk about any hobbies which u have or any events you have done such as charity - fund raising events....so on.....this link should help you i have just found it online http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onelife/edu ... form.shtml

i am not a medicine student but am familiar with ucas lolz :D

good luck and I hope u succeed :D

Hope that helps you out brother... :)

Our angel sent some more info :D :

Official homepage of UCAS:

http://www.ucas.co.uk

Contact for info:

http://www.ucas.co.uk/address.html

And our angel also said:

well if he is studying at home...he would need to call them....there should be the number in the package he has recieved ...tell him to call them and ask about which way is the best way for going about it...

I asked which "package" - she said:

well if he has requested the forms for filling out the course which he is interested in.....he should have a telephone number on the letter or booklets that he has recieved in the post...but u knw wot... i dont really knw the procedure for ppl who want to study at home...because i have not been thru that process.....sorry...just saying what i knw about how to go about applying for the course....

u knw he will send his letter in right....then ...he wil recieve a letter to say if his application form has been successful......but after that i dont knw if the y will interview him....because he will be studying at home.....i dont knw how they go about this....its depends on the uni which he has applied to....

Another happy helper said:

By obtaining the prospectus's from the universities this person will be able to see how each uni differs in the way it teaches medicine... not much difference if you really need to know... but 100% commitment by the student is needed in order to forward himself/herself on the course.

UCAS forms are a diddle to fill out... you will need the course code from the prospectus and also write up a personal statement about who you are, your experiences and qualifications.. this needs to be unique in order for the lecturers to spot you from the crowd and accept you for an initial interview....

Well whoever this is for ser khaire... no doubt many people will be applying for uni in the upcoming months for next september...

The next MSAT exam for entry into medicine, i think takes place in october by the way ;)

Birayê min - what else are brothers for...

But seriously - is this the type of things you wanted to know? Or is there something else too? I can ask people if you have more questions! :D

Here is some more help from another friend:

first of all tell your friend not to blag alot in the personal statement and to make it PERSONAL. write no more than 1 paragraph about why you want to medicine. thats what we were told at a conference i went to. the rest should be about things you have done. the more you have done, the more chances. dont just simply list them, you have to say why u did it, and most importantly what you gained from the experience! v. important!!! writing u have helped people is a bonus etc.

And there is a way you can thank me  - by sticking around on the forums and participate in discussions with us! :D
