A new scientific study has found that pre-born babies’ brains show significant differences between sexes and thus before any parental or societal conditioning

In the April 2019 edition of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience, an article titled “Sex differences in functional connectivity during fetal brain development” details the authors’ study of 118 unborn babies (70 male, 48 female) between 25.9 and 39.6 weeks gestational age.

By looking at 16 distinct networks of the brains, they found differences between male and female fetuses in functional connectivity across gestational age. They concluded, “These observations confirm that sexual dimorphism in functional brain systems emerges during human gestation.”

“Specifically, female fetuses demonstrated long range gestational-age related changes in functional connectivity between subcortical and cortical regions,” the authors reported. “The present study demonstrates for the first time that development of fetal brain FC [functional connectivity] varies with sex,” the researchers wrote.

The networks they found in the unborn babies’ brains reveal, they wrote, “building blocks” for brain development later in life. Using MRI scans of unborn babies, the researchers examined the neural connections or F.C. in the various areas of the fetal brain. Connections they found in unborn girls were nearly absent among the boys.

The study concluded, “The differential development of FC over gestation in male and female fetuses likely acts as a precursor to sex-related brain connectivity differences observed across the lifespan. Further, the fetal brain networks observed in the present study likely serve as the building blocks for nascent neonatal, toddler, and adult networks.”

Dr. Leonard Sax, a physician and psychologist, wrote in Psychology Today that the new study is in line with previous studies showing that female infants “have significantly greater brain volume in the prefrontal cortex compared with males.”

He wrote that some of the sex differences the researchers found are “truly amazing.” Girls showed differences in the connections in the left cerebellum, for example, as well as other areas of the brain, when compared to boys. The cerebellum lies near the base of the skull and has an important role in motor control. It may also be involved in functions such as attention, language, and the regulation of fear and pleasure responses.

In an interview with CNA, Sax said the importance of the study is that it shows that sexual differences in brain development come before birth. “Exactly what those differences signify is controversial,” he added.

Sax recalled in the Psychology Today article that Professor Judith Butler, a non-scientist, has been celebrated for her idea that “male” and “female” categories are social constructs. He quotes Butler, who says that “because gender is not a fact, the various acts of gender creates [sic] the idea of gender, and without those acts, there would be no gender at all.”

Butler’s book, Gender Trouble, has been influential for decades among transgenderism advocates, who have argued that sexual differences are conditioned by parents and societal norms. The new study throws the resultant gender theory into doubt, Sax writes, because it focuses on babies before birth and thus before any influence from parents or society.

While transgender advocates attribute gender differences to societal prejudices and norms, for Sax, “girls and boys are different,” according to CNA. Sax believes that “girl” and “boy” are “meaningful categories” that are not a performance or social construct.

Five whistleblowing workers at the only NHS transgender clinic in Britain have quit over fears children as young as THREE are going through unnecessary gender reassignment treatment.

The clinicians from the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) clinic based in London and Leeds left over concerns children were being incorrectly diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

It was feared some gay children struggling with their sexual identity are being incorrectly diagnosed as transgender.

Specialists also worried that some of the youngsters were being referred and pressured into having gender change treatment after suffering homophobic bullying.

All five former staff members were part of the team deciding if youngsters should be given hormone blockers to stop their development before puberty, according to the Times.

The patients then take a course of cross-sex hormones at the age of 16 depending on whether they want to develop as male or female.

At least 18 staff have reportedly quit the controversial clinic over the past three years, citing fears not enough checks are being done to correctly diagnose child patients.

One of the five whistleblowers even said the only reason many stayed in their post was to prevent more children from having the treatment.

Referrals to the clinic risen in recent years, with 94 in 2010, rising to 2,519 by last year, with the youngest patient aged just three.

One of the clinicians told The Times: 'I felt for the last two years what kept me in the job was the sense there was a huge number of children in danger.

'I was there to protect children from being damaged.'

Experts fear the treatments are being given without exploring the underlying reason for the children's confusion over their sexuality.

The Tavistock Gender Identity Development Clinic in north London has an 'inability to stand up to pressure' from campaigners and parents demanding fast-track transitions, its own clinicians have said in February

An Oxford professor said the treatments were 'unregulated live experiments on children' with some diagnosis not supported by any evidence.

Carl Heneghan, director of the Centre of Evidence-based Medicine at Oxford University, told The Times: 'Given paucity of evidence, the off-label use of drugs [for outcomes not covered by the medicine's licence] in gender dysphoria treatment largely means an unregulated live experiment on children.'

GIDS, which is part of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, denied these claims and insisted careful diagnoses were made in these complex cases.

A spokesman told the Times: 'It is only in recent years that the number of young people attending specialist services worldwide has dramatically increased.

'Prior to this the numbers have been small and it has therefore been difficult to collect sufficient evidence to fully evaluate treatment pathways.

'We and other specialist services worldwide are actively engaged in research to better understand the characteristics and needs of young people attending specialist services.'

In February doctors at the gender identity clinic warned young patients could be exposed to 'long-term damage' due to lobby groups and 'pushy parents'.

A report by former staff governor David Bell, said some children 'take up a trans identity as a solution' to 'multiple problems such as historic child abuse in the family, bereavement, homophobia, and a very significant incidence of autism spectrum disorder'.

The Bell report said many children questioning their identity may have 'learnt through online resources [or] coaching from from parents or peers exactly what to say in order to get the results they want'.

Psychoanalyst and former governor of the clinic, Dr Marcus Evans, resigned in February over concerns clinicians were looking for 'quick solutions' by offering gender reassignment.

Last November the centre was accused of 'fast-tracking' young people for gender treatment in a letter sent by parents.

Foster parents investigated after
child, 3, changes from boy to girl

A boy of three was dressed in a girl’s uniform for school after living with foster parents whose own son transitioned to being female at the age of seven

The younger child was taken to school dressed as a girl despite teachers ‘expressly’ asking the foster couple to put him in boys’ clothing.

The parents at the centre of the case, which came to light in a court judgment released last week, also had a third child in their care who had ‘gender identity issues’.

The couple, known only as CP and TP, were investigated by Lancashire County Council’s social services amid accusations they had ‘manipulated’ their children’s gender and risked causing them ‘significant emotional harm’.

The council initially wanted five children who were living with the couple taken into care. But last Friday the couple were exonerated by a High Court judge who praised them as ‘good parents’, and ‘attuned and careful’.

Mr Justice Williams said: ‘The evidence from almost all sources of how the children are prospering in the care of CP and TP provides very powerful support to the contention that CP and TP are good parents.’

The judgment provides further insight into the couple who had been foster carers for 16 years. Two of the five children who were the subjects of the court proceedings were their natural children and three were fostered.

Their youngest natural child, known only as R, now 13, transitioned from male to female at the age of seven. The foster parents took immediate steps to legally firm up her new identity and changed her name by deed poll and got a new passport.

But R remained unhappy and told a member of staff at her school a few months later that ‘she did not think life was worth living’, the judgment reveals.

Shortly after R transitioned, a boy, known as H, was fostered by the family. By January 2016, at the age of three, he was ‘being dressed in girls’ clothes’, it said.

Foster mother TP reportedly told a teacher: ‘Here’s another one for the Tavistock (clinic)’, the court papers disclose.

The following year when H was four he started school and the judgment stated: ‘The school requested H attend in a boy’s uniform. However in September H came in a girl’s uniform.’

Last July Lancashire council began proceedings to remove all five children from the couple over concerns they had ‘acted in a precipitate manner in relation to perceived gender dysphoria’.

However the council withdrew its attempts for reasons that remain unclear. Last Friday Mr Justice Williams, based in the Family Division of the High Court in London, permitted the council to abandon the litigation it had initiated.

He said: ‘The lives of the family should now proceed on the basis that those concerns were comprehensively dispelled as a result of the inquisitorial process that has been undertaken.

‘I observed during the course of the hearing that issues relating to gender identity and the medical understanding of such issues is complex and developing.’
