Hello Everyone :D
Does anyone know what they look for when judging for a UK visa? My Kurdish husband lives in Turkey & has applied for a settlement visa for the UK. We have been told it takes between one & eight weeks for an answer. Although I work, I am on a low income. I have 2 school age daughters so working full time is not possible for me at the moment. My husband wishes to work in the UK if & when he gets here. Do you think they will turn him down because I'm on a low income? :(.

There are several things the government look for Lindy, one is your ability to support yourselves financially without depending on any government benefits, the fact that you are working will stand you in good stead but I don't know your individual situation, so couldn't really comment more.

The other thing you have to prove is that the marriage is legitimate ie. he's not marrying you just to get into the UK. As you've not been together for long, you may struggle to prove you had an existing relationship prior to your marriage, but again I couldn't comment more as I don't know your situation.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you both though (and toes!), I sincerely hope everything goes OK.

If you need any further info, just holler or you can read up on Settlement Visas at the governments website here:

Take Care!
