3 children minimum?

3 children minimum?

PostAuthor: Diri » Thu Jun 28, 2007 8:33 pm

Okey - so when a couple get's together... And they marry...

How many children, at least should they have? Or maybe in your oppinion, they shouldn't have children at all?

Here is my oppinion:

In my oppinion, every couple should at LEAST have 3 children, to compensate for themselves - and another one, to increase the number of Kurds in the world! ( )

Because with every couple, there will be two people dead in a matter of 40-60 years...

So if they only have 2 kids, they would have brought two persons to take their place in the world... But if they have 3 they will have made sure the Kurdish population is increasing...

I don't know if I actually made my point clear... But heck... :P

What's your oppinion? :D

Yeah - I forgot that thing about the car being for 5 people... :P Two parents in the front and three children in the back! :D

But there are also other reasons to have at least three children:

If they are three, when two of them "fight" or have an argument - the third one will be a mediator and help bring them together again through interaction... :)

Also - with 3 children, at least each child will have 2 friends...

Pluss - the more children you have, the more types of personality will be around... So the children who grow up in big families, will be able to understand and be around many more types of people and tolerate much more... :)

So more than 3 children = creates tolerant humans! :D

Economy is important of course... But in countries like Norway and Scandinavia - we get child support... I don't know how that is in other countries in Europe...

But we get a monthly sum per child... It's not much, but it helps to pay the dipers at least... :P

I always wanted maaaany children... But I am not so sure anymore... :?

your 3 children opinion make sense but just cause you have alot of children it does not make them allways understand and tolerate eachother and other people... i do not know how many children i will want to have. i think maybe 2 or not more than 4.

Good point, Nuray... It doesn't matter how many children you have - if you are not able to teach them and bring them up in a safe and healthy environment...

Very good point!

So everybody should to start with: have as many as they can handle...

And if they can manage - GO FOR 3!!! :P

They say, giving birth and being a mother is the most beautiful thing... I wonder if that's true... :?

Not thanks lol.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

So what if only one of the parents is Kurdish? (like non-Kurdish me and my bf) Or does all this mean we have to have 6 kids so that all those 6 halves will make three wholes?

Or what if we continue to live between North and South Kurdistan and all of them (our children) learn to speak both Sorani and Kurmanci? Then will they be allowed to identify themselves as extraordinarily gorgeous (cause everyone know mixed blood children are good-looking :o ) and completely Kurdish... This is a "nature vs nurture" question.

Who said anything about that, Zia?

It's been a while since I read this topic - but I can't recall any discussion of children of one parent being less - or that one should have 6 children in that case...

Yes, mixed = best... 8) Speaking from experience... ( )

OOPs... nothing bad meant by this. I just read something about increasing the number of Kurds in the world.

So not being Kurdish, I just wondered how many kids I would have to have to help increase the number of Kurds in the world... YOu don't really need to respond to this since it is late here in South Kurdistan, I am likely not making sense anymore and I should go to sleep. Sigh.

God bless you - sweet sister :D

You sound like a TRUE Kurdish patriot - only I know you're half Indian-half British - which makes you even more precious and adorable for saying that...

Well, to be honest, I didn't know you had a wish to integrate into Kurdish society, culture and life - seemingly you do wish to do so - and I've only had the impression that you had a Kurdish boyfriend from Bakûr - but not that it was that serious (having children and all that)... :D

Great - welcome to Kurdishness  - tighten your seat belt and hold on tight, because you're in for a ride...

So, as a newly converted Kurd: HOW do you feel? ( ) - of course I'm just pulling your leg...

Naw but honestly? I salute you and your determination - and thank you for bringing new and much needed life and energy to the Kurdish people... Your contribution will enrichen our culture and strenghten the developing democracy of Kurdistan...

I'd like you to have 20 children if you can manage - if not I'll settle for a couple or perhaps three... You decide of course...

Hmmm.... I still say I am Canadian (more than British). We are all immigrants there. But I can relate to the experience of displacement despite the fact that life for most is comfortable in Canada. I never felt quite at home in Canada and have permanent wanderlust. My Kurdish boyfriend left Elazığ for better educational opportunies and has lived most of his life in İzmir. He started his working life in Pakistan and well, I think we are part of a new kind of generation of people not as completely bound by political and geographic boundaries. Ethic boundaries, now that is something else entirely.
Diri wrote::lI've only had the impression that you had a Kurdish boyfriend from Bakûr - but not that it was that serious (having children and all that)... :D

Well Diri, here's the thing. Since I have lived abroad since 1993, I figured 14 years is too long to view life as temporary. So many people when they live abroad treat it like their REAL lives are on hold. I can't keep life on hold for so long. So this here in Kurdistan is my real life and my relationships are real too. I am here to learn, live and experience as much as I am to teach.

As for comtemplating children.... we haven't really yet, but if I want them, it will have to be soon. Can't you tell by my pic that I am already in my 30s? My boyfriend is even older. To preserve my "honor" most people here have been told that we are already married, but in truth we have no such plans until leaving South Kurdistan. The health care here is too poor to consider something so huge as having a child.

But if I do decide to have 20, you will have to be "uncle" to at least one as my boyfriend's Kurdish language and knowledge is not so good as yours. He speaks Kurmanci mixed with Turkish (like so many from there) and at the moment (because of me) he works harder on English than Sorani (So I am not entirely a good influence).
