Who saw the film; 'Kingdom of the Heaven'? It is about Salahuddin Ayuby military campaign to recover Jerusalim. When he took the Christian King of Jerusalim as a prisoner, he gave him a cup full of snow ice. It was in the middle of summer. If this was true, this snow ice must have been sent to him from Kurdistan. I remember my grand father used to tell me how long ago in Kurdistan people used to preserve snow ice in the winter for use in summer. The operation involved digging big holes in the ground and filled with snow ice. Hay, Ka in Kurdish, used around the ice as insulator. Apparently all the ice used to be taken to Arbil on donkey caravans during summer for sale or as gift.
