Hi Dara...
Bi xêr hatî xûshka min...
Welcome my sister...
The reasons why Kurdish men are so posessive, are many:
1) Middle Eastern men come from a society, where women only socialize with women and where men only socialize with men... So our society, is somewhat segregated...
2) Because Middle Eastern culture generally provides more freedom for men than for women - so in a male dominated society, it's natural that one is posessive of ones women...
3) Since in a male dominated society, women are not considered physically or psychologically "strong" - like a man is... So according to such mentality, women need "protection" from men...
4) Middle Eastern women act different from Western women - and are not as independent minded... Nor are Middle Eastern men as independent minded as Western men... So basically: in the Middle East, one thinks as a group (family) while in the West, one thinks first and foremost like an individual...
There are many more reasons...

Dara - PLEASE - don't write with your caps locked in...
It's SO frustrating... It looks as if you are angry...
Thank you for sharing with us... I understand your fear - because Kurds - male or female, are very passionate like the rest of the Middle East and Mediterranian... But - most of the time, the anger is soon gone...
