Cool! :D Let me know if you need any help at all...

I studied it at school - we had 2-3 hours Kurdish lessons each week for about 10 years... From first grade till 10th - and from the 10th till 13th I studied it on my own - and then at the end of the 13th, I had my exams - and I did very well... I got a 6 - which is the best grade! \:D/

Gelek supas, xûşka delal :)

Actually, yes, I did study Kurdish in Norway --- because in Norway it is the right of every child of foreign parents to have education in their mothers tongue aswell... So 2-3 hours per week is the norm! :)

Is it pig-ish? Hahaha :P

Well don't you have that system in Germany? We have it in all Scandinavian countries... The reason we have it is, because science has proved, that you learn new languages much faster, if you know your mothers tongue well! :D

And also, it is a way of helping children who are not good in Norwegian, to learn Norwegian with the help of a teacher who speaks both Norwegian and the childs mother tongue! :)

goddamn germany! :evil:
i know you learn new languages faster, if you are well in your own language; but the germs aren't so clever to understand!
since this year foreign children (especially turks :twisted:) aren't even allowed to speak their mother tongue at school...

i think it's good; we aren't allowed to speak kurdish in turkey too;
now they aren't allowed to speak turkish at german schools :D

ach egal:

i'll migrate...

I try and study Kurmanci it's hard. There is no school, and no school or course that I can take. No online classes, and I did run into a book, but this is hard to learn. I learn from talking to kurds, and I try to figure out to pronounce the letters and sounds. I finally learned the diferance between the X and the KH...lol :)

Funny thing about America is that English is not the Countries national language. America doesn't have any national language, yet we have this attitude like "speak english or get out" Americans are funny

What's the difference between "X" and "KH"? :shock:

They are the same... Just that in English it's written as "KH" and in Kurdish as "X"... :)

Please tell me that is what you meant... :lol:

What I ment though is that the X seems to be softer in sound than KH. Maybe so maybe not. The X to me sounds more in the back of the throat. Maybe I am wrong

Well actually, there is only one sound in Kurdish... It's "X" - and some pronounce it hard and others soft... Depends on dialect, basically... But mostly, it's a soft sound :)

For example:

Xanî = House
Xem = Sorrow
Xalû = Empty
Xal = Uncle (Mothers sid)
Xewin = Dream
Xizim = Relative
Xizêm = Nose piercing
Xort = Young/Effective/Strong
Xwarin = Food

*I've purposely omitted some words starting with X because of their foreign roots - such as Arabic root: "Xelet" = "Wrong" or "Xilas" = "Finish"/"End"...

You should note down these words and memorize them :)
