I thought 'I love you' was 'Hash stut gah', I know that is not how you spell it but that is how it is pronounced in English.

The Kurdish the person I know speaks is called Bahdini, how different is this t Sorrani.

In Kurmancî (which Badînî is a sub-dialect of) we say:

Ez heje te dikem
Ez evîndarê teme
Ez hez te dikem
Te hezdikem
Hej te dikem


Etc...

"Hash" is same as "Hej" (written with standard Kurdish Latîn alphabet (Hej)) - but I think you just didn't get the words right - I think he says: Hej te dikem/digem... :)

Diri Hej in polish means Hi :D
and 11 in kurdish means in polish language Go!

Depend Ann - because you have to think of the way it is pronounced... I don't know how you pronounce your "j" in Polish...

In Kurdish, it is pronounced like the French "j"...

The Kurdish "c" is pronounced like the English "j"... "John" - "Job" - "Jeep" - "Jesus" etc...

That was what I thought... Then you say "hi" like Swedes do!! :wink:


You got a link from MissIndependent - about the Kurdish alphabet... You should read that and try to understand the phonetics - our sounds are not the same as Polish or English... They are something alltogether different...

Like you learned: X is Kh in Kurdish... :)

Sadly that book is very bad...
Firstly, the latinisation is a bit odd and secondly it uses the Suleymania dialect and not standardised sorani..

e.g min dechim becomes min echim... (which is not what is taught in Kurdish schools!

Those darn Suleymania intellectuals!

Hey ok im from Slemani and no disrespect but im a little offended when u say that. to be honest the Slemani dialect makes speaking Kurdish so much easier because we dont pronounce all those ridiculously unnecessary "d"'s which makes speaking sound much smoother. i mean what is the point of saying "atu dechit" when u can just say "to echit"? so much simpler, so yeah...

also in erdelani dialect (sine) we don't pronounce the d

what is the point of saying "to eçît" when you can just say "tu çît" as in kelhuri.

or "min kem" (kelhuri) instead of "min ekem" (silemany).
