ideas wrote:There are revolutionary events going on in all parts of Kurdistan, and we're arguing over which script if better for what. None of us are linguistics and while presenting ideas and opinions is healthy it seems like this is turning into a competition. This subject is best left for the professionals. Once there is a standardized Kurdish dialect, there will also be an official script. Be it Latin or Semite, does it really matter? Though personally I prefer the Latin script. Kak Alan gyan, let te dagam bra, balam kesaka chia? The Sorani script, is not exactly like the Arabic script, yet it is derived of the Arabic script. I know there are slight differences. At the end of the day what matters is that we work on the legitimate Kurdish struggle and achieve our god given rights as citizens of the planet Earth, through the right to self determination. Let us not occupy ourselves with petty arguments over what dialect should dominate, or what script should dominate but how we can improve the lives of our innocent people back home. We must not allow anything to get in between the brotherhood between our communities. We are all Kurds, people of the mountains! and that bond shall never be broken.

i agree there should be a unified script, but my point is it wont be easy since SK has been using it in its schools an unis and is FREE of occupation so it has grown into the people there, how do you think they will react to something they did not learn in school and uni !?

speaking of unity, i wound not lie my worries with SK and what script it uses as it is free of occupation, it must start from PYD first by using kurdistan flag, and let the syrian Kurdish soldiers trained by pdk to take over WK.

this proves that EK is also using the Sorani script, the product is kurdish chewing gum (bneshti kurdi) in Saqz - kordistan province EK.

i actually want a unified script but the sorani script in SK and EK has already integrated into kurds too much, its going to be really difficult to ask for it to be replaced with latin or any other scripts.

I prefer Latin rather than Sorani script, I can't either write og read sorani script, mostly because Im born and raised in Norway. Probaldy easier for kurd who live in Kurdistan, hm. But I would say Latin script would be better, for an example, it would be easier for kurds to learn english? as english is in latin script, but I don't know, my opinion.

Yeh your right, so do Faylis/Laks, but for me personally I just prefer Latin script.

I suggest that we change our sorani script to latin since latin is indo-european and so is our language but we do not speak a semitic language so we shouldn't use semitic script. The only reason ataturk chose latin is to get closer to europe. But we should do it because we are indo-europeans and our language is indo-european. However I have nothing against trying to unify sorani scrip with latin.

What about Acyrillic script? That is also Indo-European, so is Hindu and Armenian scripts.

I think the majority of Kurds even in south and east Kurdistan prefer the latin script, its indo european and its international, so it is the best choice.

xD, Do we have kurds who uses Acyrillic, Hindi or armenian script? Maybe some ezediz is Armenia. We have 20+ million kurds who use Latin and Latin is one of the most used scripts in the world. In case we don't have our own kurdish script I do not see any indo-eurpean script better suited than Latin don't you agree?

Disagree there were actually quite a handful of Northern Kurds that used Acyrillic. Though it really doesn't matter whether our language is indo-european or not. I really don't know why Kurds get so happy about that. We are not European, never were, never will be. I do agree however Latin is already being used in NK and SK, though I believe it should coincide with the use of Sorani script.

They were not many, so do you suggest that we use Acyrillic because there were some kurds who used it? Rather indo-european than turkic and semitic in my opinion.
If we had 20+ million who used Acyrillic then why not if it make you feel close to your communist leader :-D (joke) however we have 20+ million kurds who use latin. I have another suggestion, what about having a mix of latin and sorani script or what we shall call it in the areas where people use sorani script. Like S.K and E.K. In India they use english with a indian translation on their shops. Latin in the areas where they use latin script.

Look listen I won't complain this time, but next time to do not insult 'National Socialism'; this isn't the place for it. If you want to discuss 'National Socialism'; then I'd happily create a seperate thread for that.
Anyway if were talking about Acyrillic(Acyrillic is also indo-european, not "like Turkic or semitic") is is also used in non-slavonic countries like amongst North Caucasians. I've actually seen the Acyrillic alphabet, it seems easier for beginners to understand; though I suppose for writing long essays 'latin' is better suited. I think if we are going to completely use latin; then we should instialize the alphabet and script over time, not just in one instance.
