I have a male friend , and he is kurd and his name is Peyam

but dont worry many names in Kurdish are for both male and female
like Hiwa , Medya...

Yes, Peyman means "contract"/"treaty" etc...

But her name is Peyam... And as kak Dyaoko says, it means "message"...

Barî is the 3rd person singular, past tense of the verb "Barîn". That would be "Yagdi" in Turkish... "It rained" in English...

''It rained'' does not seem to be an accurate meaning. The name ''Barî'' in Arabic means ''Rightful'' and is one of the names of god. It is used as AbdulBari by muslims. I think the Arabic origin seems more possible than "it rained"; the Kurdish meaning looks more like a coincidence.

I didn't assume he was speaking of a name...

You are obviously talking about a name...

I am, as I stated: talking about a verb... I didn't think he was speaking of a name (maybe he is) - since I've never heard of somebody called "Barî" before... :roll:

Bariş hasn't specified whether it's a name he means or a Kurdish word...
