Warning over dangerous Apple Mac virus that can take screenshots and access your documents

Mac owners have been warned about a dangerous virus that can take screenshots every 30 seconds and access photos and videos.

The malware, Mokes.A, can record everything typed onto a keyboard which, combined with screenshots, could give away your bank details and other sensitive information.

And, despite the discovery of the virus by Kaspersky Lab researcher Stefan Ortloff, it is not known how it is installed on laptops in the first place.

Instead, Mac owners should take normal virus prevention methods, for instance using antivirus software to find and destroy Mokes.A.

Mr Ortloff, a security researcher, first found a version of the malware for PC in January.

He said: ‘Don’t install software from untrusted sources, and keep the operating system and applications updated.’

Hackers can also used Mokes.A to control a computer remotely.

Last week, Apple released two security updates in response to recently discovered vulnerabilities.

But it’s not all gloomy if you’re a Mac owner – because you’re still far more likely to pick up a virus if you use Windows :-B

I install automatically all the update of Apple and I have no trouble. The only problem of viruses is when I use a pc at school with my flash key and then realizes it is infested. Now I protect my flash key.
