the problems that you say , is for sure because of Worms and Trojans.

when a computer works fine ..but after a month it freezes, it is because during this month your computer has been fulled with worms and trojans.

I bet that you dont have this software installed on your PC .

Ad-Aware , Download it here
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

and let it have a full scan on your computer to find all worms .

the important thing about Ad-Aware and also antiviruses is , "you must update it at least everyweek" (to update the program you must run the program and then click on "Check For Updates Now"... it will update its database)

mind that Ad-Aware is not the same with Anti-Virus, it is Worm Killer.

you better also have an anti virus installed on your PC too.

I recommend Norton Antivirus 2006.

by the way can you tell me about the capacity of your hard drive ?

Adaware is not a prgoram to blcok popups, but to delete worms .

Ad-Aware is listed as "Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal" in the Program list .

if it is not installed install it .installling the program is not enough.
you must do a SCAN every often .

it is good that you have antivirus , but remember, you MUST updage the anti virus every week.

so do these things:
1- install ad-aware [I gave the link before], update it, do a full system scan .

2- update your norton antirius, using Live Update . and then do a full scan.

+regarding your hard drive , it is big, enough , but I remmeber you said your hard drive is just one partition ... that makes CPU work a lot .
you must devide your hard disk to 2-3 partitions.

how much is your ram ? Ram is so imporant , if your ram is less than 25MB , i really recomend you to add some ram. ram less than 256 , means bad .

Ad-aware is a good program but I suggest downloading Microsoft Antispyware, which works just as well and always runs in the background while you use your computer...

Go here and download it, it's free and it won't conflict with your other anti-virus software like Norton or anything...

Just run your Norton anti virus program which you access it through start menu and then click on update.... Norton is not free so if it is expired then you can get a free version of any other anti virus from school. Schools usually offer a free version of antivirus
