give me a suggestion for a bakuri youth web portal name(doma

PostAuthor: serhildane » Fri Jul 06, 2007 4:52 pm

hello bros and sistas.. i think about this for a long time opening a place for my patriotic regional kurds.. i thought too much but im still not sure what kind of name i have to choose for its name.. then i thought it will be helpful if i ask at here..

so.. i want to you make me a suggestion for a web site name.. this web site will be a portal for patriotic kurdish people.. like here, note that im a bakuri, from istanbul.. =) first step, i will invite my close friends & family.. second step the people from my fatherland region (northerneast turkey) will be invited.. and finally if we can do i want to make a community which has about 5000 user.. ok whateva..

so what can you advice for this patriotic project? =)

only kurdish and turkish names are preffered.. but i want you to advice kurdish names.. (bakuriweb or someting contains ciwan jiyan agir bakur etc..)

maybe the reason i want your help, my kurdish is not good, so you know, to think in a language, you must know feel and live in that language.. anyway i will be grateful for every one who think and write something..

zor spas for all..

Silaw birayê hêja...

First I want to encourage you to learn your mother tongue well...

Second - I think you have a good idea - but I hope you will not mix much Turkish into the project...

There is already one Kurdish site/forum in TURKISH language - and that sucks big time, because Kurds should know their language and speak in Kurdish between themselves - OR they must use an internationally recognized lingua franca - like English, French, German or the language of the country they live in outside of the homeland and the occupying countries...

To speak about yourself in the occupiers language will affect your way of thinking...

My suggestions for names:

Pêşeroj = The Future
Xortên Welat = Youth of the Homeland
Kevoka Azadî = The Freedom Dow
Azad Bûn = To be Free
Azadî = Freedom
Xaniya Kurdan = House of the Kurds
Kaniya Kurdan = Water Spring of the Kurds
Meydana Kurdan = Arena of the Kurds
Meydana Azadî = Freedom Arena / Arena of Freedom

I like the last one best to be honest... Because a forum is an Arena (Meydan)... It will be an Arena for people to be free to speak their mind - therefore I chose "Freedom" (Azadî)...

Good luck with your project brother... :) I hope you do well and be successful...

You are welcome bira :)

That (Xortên Welat) is a nice one, yes... Pîroz bît bira! :wink:

In what way do you mean? You mean "what is special about being Bakûrî"?

Well in my oppinion, Kurdistana Bakûr has been under the worst and longest lasting systematic ethnic cleansing... They are the victims of a state where their existence was denied and their rights none... When Turgut Özal broke the taboo on being Kurdish in 1991 - he started a new process... He started a political Kurdish movement which has taken more and more attention - at the expense of the militant war encouraged by the PKK...

That is very good, in my oppinion...

But I don't think there is a very separate "Bakûrî" identity - but a regional identity from province to province... For example, people in and around Amed feel sort of united... People around Wan and Colemêrg feel united... People in Botan and Mêrdîn feel united... Etc... But these are sort of too splitt by the existing political borders and the lack of communication...

And Kurds in Istanbul, Konya, Ankara, Antalya, Adana, Izmir etc. have a totally different set of reality - growing up in predominantly Turkish areas they are forced to be careful with their Kurdishness and not expose it too openly... In that way, I would say they are more prone to discrimination... Whereas in a predominantly Kurdish area, they all face the same treatment...

Let me add:

The Kurds who live in predominantly Turkish areas feel a need to fit in - and therefore assimilate much more easily culturally etc. - even though they may be Kurdish nationalists in their hearts, it's not evident on the outside...
