Claw hammer attack

A man has been jailed after violently attacking a woman with a claw hammer at a home in east London

Image

Mark Hosang, 49, was jailed for 13 years at the Old Bailey on Friday after pleading guilty to grevious bodily harm with intent.

Police were called to Paragon Road in Homerton to reports of an injured woman in distress at 6:25am on July 12, last year.

Hosang had attacked the woman in her 40s with a claw hammer, striking across her head and arm as she tried to shield herself, Scotland Yard said in a statement.

A member of the public had heard screams coming from the address and called 999.

At the scene, officers found the victim suffering from three significant head wounds and a suspected broken arm.

Hosang was arrested at the scene and taken to an east London police station.

Detective Constable Mark Symonds, from the Central East Command Unit led the investigation and said: “This was a sustained, brutal attack, aggravated by the use of a weapon which could have easily had fatal consequences.

“I would like to praise the bravery of the victim who has shown great courage and resilience in supporting this investigation.

"The professionalism and care of staff at the Royal London Hospital has enabled her to make significant improvements in her recovery and I can only hope the sentence handed down to Hosang further aids this.

“I would also like to praise the actions of the passer-by who called police – their actions allowed us respond swiftly and arrest Hosang while his victim could receive immediate medical attention."

Girl, 15, arrested

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenage boy in Coventry

Babacar Diagne, 15, was found fatally stabbed in grassland in Wood End at around 7pm on Wednesday.

Image

The girl was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder just before 10.30am this morning.

She has been taken into police custody where she will be questioned over her involvement in the stabbing, West Midlands Police said.

Two 15-year-old boys, who were arrested earlier this week, remain in custody after officers were granted court extensions allowing them extra time to question them on suspicion of murder.

Babacar Diagne was murdered in woodland by what police believe was a group of young men (PA)

It’s understood Babacar was attacked by three black males who arrived at the murder scene on pedal bikes.

The reason for the attack remains unclear, but homicide detectives are working to establish possible motives.

Det. Ch. Insp. Scott Griffiths, who is leading the investigation, said: “We’ve made fantastic progress on the case but my team will continue to work around the clock until we are satisfied we have caught everyone involved in this awful attack.

“Although we’ve already made 10 arrests to date, I am still urging anyone who suspects they know who was involved, or saw anything suspicious near Petitor Crescent on Wednesday night, to please get in touch.

“The people responsible do not deserve protection. They have killed a child and we all collectively need to make a stand to show this is not acceptable."

“If anyone was driving through the Petitor Crescent area between 6-8pm on Wednesday and has dash-cam footage then we’d also ask them to get in touch on 101 or message us on Live Chat via the website.”

Killer and rapist
set to walk free

Predator Fabian Henry was jailed for 12 years for raping a 17-year-old girl twice and for abducting and having sex with a girl of 15 while on bail

Image
Fabian Henry

These are the faces of a 'brutal' killer and a 'devious' rapist whose deportations back to Jamaica were blocked by last-minute legal challenges.

Knifeman Fitzroy Daley stabbed a 50-year-old man to death after a minor scuffle outside a pub, and was jailed for ten years

Image
Fitzroy Daley

Both violent criminals won an 11th hour reprieve along with dozens of hardened offenders after campaigners said the deportation would risk repeating the mistakes of the Windrush scandal.

Some of the removals were blocked on a technicality on Monday night by the Court of Appeal, which found they were unable to make phone calls to their lawyers from two detention centres near Heathrow. Others submitted additional legal challenges.

The failure to deport the men is bound to alarm their victims, particularly after ministers said all of them posed a danger to the public.

Another of the 25 Jamaican nationals taken off Tuesday's flight was a child rapist and, in all, the criminals were sentenced to an astonishing 136 years in prison, the Mail can reveal.

Government sources have said they fear the Jamaican criminals remaining in Britain will win bail within days and be released from immigration removal centres.

Daley killed Eric Paul after the pair fought outside a pub in east London just before Christmas 2012.

The Old Bailey was shown CCTV footage of Daley attacking Mr Paul from behind as he walked away after a 'minor scuffle'. A jury acquitted Daley, then 36, of murder but found him guilty of manslaughter.

The court heard Mr Paul was stabbed several times with a six-inch kitchen knife.

Det Insp Andy Manning, who led the investigation, said: 'Fitzroy Daley used brutal violence to settle what was essentially a minor dispute with Eric Paul. His actions have devastated Mr Paul's family.'

In Henry's case, he was described as 'devious, callous and manipulative' by a judge at Bristol Crown Court in August 2013 when he was sentenced.

Henry, then aged 30, denied all the charges against him, forcing his two young victims to relive their ordeals in the witness box.

The court heard how Henry groomed both girls by bombarding them with hundreds of messages from his Blackberry phone.

He lured his 17-year-old victim to his cousin's flat in Bristol where he twice forced himself on her in July 2012.

Mr Corbyn appeared to be referring to a secretly taped 1990 conversation in which Mr Johnson agreed to provide the address of a News of the World reporter to a friend who wanted to arrange a punishment beating

Henry took degrading pictures of her naked and in her underwear, and then published them on social media in a bid to silence her.

After the girl left the flat, Henry followed her and forced her to get into his car where he threatened to 'box' or hit her. She only escaped after one of his friends intervened.

Henry was also convicted of abducting a 15-year-old girl to his flat in London, where he had sex with her in December 2012. He had started grooming her at the age of 14.

She sent text messages to her father saying she had been kidnapped. The first messages said 'Help' and 'He took me'.

A quick-fire string of messages followed, starting with 'He's driving me somewhere in the back of his car, he tied up my feet' and continuing with: 'What do I do?', 'He's coming', 'Dad, Dad' and 'He's gonna take my phone'.

Three police officers went to a first-floor flat in Hackney, east London, at about 3.45am the following day and found Henry lying with the child under his duvet.

At Prime Minister's Questions yesterday Jeremy Corbyn questioned whether Mr Johnson could himself have been deported :ymapplause:

Passing sentence, Judge Michael Longman told him: 'Both cases demonstrate an inappropriate sexual interest in girls much younger than you.'

Public 'fear role of judiciary in politics'

The Attorney General has warned that creeping 'judicialisation of politics' is alienating British people. Geoffrey Cox, the Government's senior law officer, said there was a fear that unelected officials, including judges, were usurping Parliament over key decisions.

'I do think there is a question now whether or not the judicialisation of politics has gone too far and requires some amelioration or changing of the balance,' Mr Cox said.

He added: 'There is a real risk that those of us in Westminster or in the legal profession do not understand that out in the country there is a concern about whether or not decisions that ought to be taken by democratically accountable politicians are in fact being taken by those who are not elected.'

Mr Cox suggested Supreme Court judges could be subjected to questioning by MPs and peers before they are appointed.

No10 has promised an inquiry into judicial review after last year's legal fight over the prorogation of Parliament.

Henry was handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order banning him from unsupervised contact with youngsters and ordered to register as a sexual offender for life.

The mother of one victim told the Bristol Post: 'He took away her innocence... He vandalised her life and she has got to live with that for the rest of her life.'

At Prime Minister's Questions yesterday Jeremy Corbyn questioned whether Mr Johnson could himself have been deported.

The Labour leader said: 'If there was a case of a young white boy with blond hair who later dabbled in Class A drugs and conspired with a friend to beat up a journalist, would he deport that boy – or is it one rule for young black boys from the Caribbean and another for white boys from the United States?'

Mr Corbyn appeared to be referring to a secretly taped 1990 conversation in which Mr Johnson agreed to provide the address of a News of the World reporter to a friend who wanted to arrange a punishment beating.

Mr Johnson, who was born in New York and has admitted using cocaine as a teenager, said: 'I think quite frankly that Mr Corbyn demeans himself and, by the way, besmirches the reputation of the Windrush generation. He has no right to conflate them with those foreign national offenders that we are deporting today.'

The Government was embroiled in a scandal in 2018 after it emerged that British citizens who came here in the Windrush generations from the 1950s onwards had been wrongly deported to the Caribbean.

Rupert Smith, 32, from London, was deported after being convicted in 2016 of committing actual bodily harm – attacking a man with a wrench. He received a 15-month sentence

Last night one of the 17 people deported to Jamaica on Tuesday morning said he had been left destitute after arriving in Kingston.

Rupert Smith, 32, from London, was deported after being convicted in 2016 of committing actual bodily harm – attacking a man with a wrench. He received a 15-month sentence.

Mr Smith arrived in the UK aged 13 and has three children in the UK, all British citizens.

'I'm numb, hurt, wounded. There is no sensation, no feeling,' he told BBC Newsnight.

'I have done my crime, I've served my time. If I was a British child, it would have finished at me serving my time. But because I'm Jamaican it's like I'm serving my sentence three times over.'

Four stabbed in space of just two hours across London

Two men are fighting for their lives after a spate of stabbings in the space of just two hours in east London yesterday. The violence started in Barking where a man was left in a critical condition in hospital after a multiple stabbing at 4.20pm. Another victim was found with stab wounds to his hands in Sandringham Road. Police said they arrested two males on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the attack.

Less than an hour later at 5pm in Hackney, a man, believed to be in his teens, was found suffering from a stab injury in Brooke Road. He was rushed to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition. Scotland Yard said no arrests had been made but a Section 60 was issued for the entire borough of Hackney. The section 60 order allows police to stop and search people without suspicion if serious violence has taken place.

The order remained in place until 10am this morning. Police then said they came across a fight between two men in Ilford at 5.44pm. A man in his 30s suffered stab and slash wounds and was taken to hospital in a ‘life-threatening condition’. Police arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.

Teen boy paid with his life

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death after trying to help another youngster who had been robbed of new trainers, a court has heard

Perry Jordan Brammer "paid with his life" when he intervened, after he was knifed 10 times on the Broadwater Farm Estate in Tottenham on August 30 last year.

He died from his injuries on September 4, and Romario Lindo, 21, is now standing trial for his murder.

Prosecutor William Emlyn Jones told the jury: "He was helping a friend of a friend."

He added: "He paid with his life".

Perry, from Tottenham, had been spending the "sunny summer's day" with Jason Mombele, a mutual friend of his, and another unnamed teenager, who that morning had bought a pair of £90 trainers, Woolwich Crown Court heard.

The shoes were robbed from the teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons by Lindo outside Bruce Grove Station.

Mr Mombele was informed of the robbery and, in an attempt to retrieve the shoes, Perry followed Lindo to Willan Road, the court heard.

There he was subjected to an attack and stabbed all over his body, the prosecution alleges.

The scene was viewed by a neighbour in a nearby building.

Mr Emlyn Jones said:"As [the witness] watched, to his horror, he saw the defendant had a knife and was using it to stab Perry again and again.

"At one point, the witness shouted out 'don't kill him'. In response, the defendant looked up at the witness, and then carried on stabbing Perry another three or four times."

The defendant then fled the scene on the bike Perry had been riding.

But by that point, the 15-year-old "had been stabbed 10 times, to the face and neck, chest front and back, and buttocks", Mr Emlyn Jones added.

Paramedics at the scene performed emergency surgery before transferring him to hospital where his condition deteriorated.

The bike, and clothing Lindo had been wearing, were abandoned nearby.

Lindo, of no fixed address, has admitted robbery, but denies murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The trial continues.

Boy, 15, stabbed
in gang attack

A boy aged 15 is fighting for life today after witnesses said he was dragged off a moped and knifed in a suspected gang ambush

The teenager was one of three victims seriously injured in a series of stabbings in just over an hour of bloodshed across east London.

Residents said the boy was pulled off the moped in Brooke Road, Hackney at about 5.15pm yesterday before being stabbed.

He staggered and then collapsed a few hundred yards around the corner with a severe head injury.

Police and medics arrived and took him to hospital where he was today in a life-threatening condition.

Forensic staff at the crime scene in Brooke Road (NIGEL HOWARD ©)

One resident said: “We were looking out the window and the boy was on the floor, one of the neighbours was there with him too and police officers were surrounding him.

"There was a helmet in the middle of the road, he was dragged off his bike and stabbed.”

Another neighbour said: “I saw flashing lights and looked out and saw him lying in the road ... the paramedics were working on him for a long time before they got him in the ambulance.”

She added: “I have a 15-year-old too so it is worrying. There seems to be stabbings everyday but it is a shock when it happens on your doorstep.”

Forensics officers last night removed a black Jeep from the scene, which is said to have fingerprints on the bonnet belonging to his attackers

A crime scene remained in place today as police questioned two people aged 18 and 19 on suspicion of attempted murder.

Stop and search powers were stepped up across Hackney until 10am today.

A policer officer in Brooke Road (NIGEL HOWARD ©)

Police said the attack is believed to be gang-related. In a separate stabbing, a man in his twenties was attacked in Sandringham Road, Barking just before 4.30pm.

His condition in hospital was described today as critical.

The incident is being linked to a 19-year-old man who was stabbed in the hand in Porters Avenue, Dagenham. Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Then at 5.44pm, police came across two men fighting in New North Road, Ilford.

A man in his thirties suffered stab and slash wounds and was in a life-threatening condition in hospital today. Police said a man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

A Met spokesman said: “If any young people have information about violence or knife crime, they can visit fearless.org where they can pass on information anonymously.

"Fearless is part of the Crimestoppers charity, and is also independent of the police.”

Anyone with information about any of the incidents can also call police on 101.

Man stabbed to death
in North West London

A murder probe has been launched after a 42-year-old man was stabbed to death in north west London this morning

Image

The victim, who police have named as Lennox Nigel Alecendor, was found in Cricklewood's Ansel Road with a knife wound to the neck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at around 7.30am.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.

Scotland Yard released a photo of the victim as it announced a murder probe had been launched.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Stancombe has pleaded for potential witnesses to come forward.

He said: "This murder took place on a residential street as many people were waking up and starting their day. My officers are waiting to take calls from anyone who may have heard an altercation and looked out to witness the incident or who may have captured any of the events leading up to, during, or following the murder on dash cam.

“Every call is treated in strictest confidence and your information could help remove a dangerous criminal from your area. Please don’t hesitate to make the call.”

No arrests have been made.

Due to POLITICAL CORRECTNESS and fear of being called a RACIST everyone is afraid to tell the TRUTH

Had we been allowed to address the problems early on, we would not have the problems with black youths, often Jamaican or of Jamaican ancestry, that we are experiencing now

Way back, over 20 years ago, when black youths started causing trouble with drugs and violence in Croydon College, we were told that we could not say that because it was racist

Now it is so bad in Croydon College that it is probably easier to get into fort Knox

When a friend of ours was killed by a Jamaican drug gang, we were told off for referring to them as Jamaicans

It was a statement of FACT

There are many black people in the UK who study hard, work hard and never get into trouble. Most of them are from the smaller Caribbean islands. Also, their families are more close-knit and they are far less likely than those of Jamaican ancestry, to have children and ignore them

Another problem is that the black icons followed by the majority of black youths, are drug dealers or ex drug dealers who have become Grime stars, many of whom are well publicised in the media. Because if the media did not publicise them the media is called racist

Black youths have nobody to look up too

A black drug dealing, drug taking, grime artist who sings about hating white people should be locked up NOT made a black icon for youths to follow

Man stabbed to death in Croydon

A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death in a 'frenzied' attack in Croydon and a 35-year-old woman was killed at a residential address in Waltham Forest

The man was walking along a residential street in Croydon, south London, when he was pounced upon in a 'brutal and frenzied attack' by a group of suspects in the early hours of today.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene after suffering multiple stab wounds shortly after midnight but died during surgery at hospital more than two hours after the attack.

Four stabbed in London
as bloodbath continues

The Met Police confirmed 4 separate stabbings took place within hours of each other in Hackney, White City and Leyton

And last night, a terrifying attack was reported in West Hampstead.

The incidents come amid growing alarm about a spate of fatal stabbings in London.

Cops have vowed to flood the streets with extra officers – while mayor Sadiq Khan warned Londoners not to expect much change overnight, saying it could take a generation.

Officers were called just after midday on Wednesday to reports of a stabbing in White City, west London.

The victim, a boy believed to be in his teens, was found at the scene with life-threatening stab wounds and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Within two hours, at 1.53pm, police were called to a separate incident in Hackney, east London.

A man, who was found at the scene with stab wounds, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Nearby residents reported seeing the helicopter land and a heavy police presence.

One image appeared to show a man with injuries to his hands and wrists.

Hours later at 4.30pm, a man in his 30s was stabbed repeatedly on Grove Green Road in Leytonstone.

No arrests have yet been made over any of the incidents as inquiries continue.

On Monday night, a 16-year-old boy, named locally as John, died in front of his parents in Tulse Hill in the fifth fatal stabbing in London in six days.

It was the 119th violent death in London so far this year.

The other stabbing victims in the past week were Rocky Djelal, 38, Jay Hughes, 15, and Malcolm Mide-Madariola, 17.

An unnamed 22-year-old man was also attacked.

Armed robber gunned
down by police

The terrifying moment an armed robber aims his shotgun out of a bedroom window at a police officer with a Taser before opening fire

Derrick Fatunbi, 33, was then shot by another Met officer and fell backwards into the room.

Despite his injuries, he staggered to his feet and made his way downstairs at the property in Hackney.

But on the stairway, Fatunbi was confronted by more armed police. He pointed the weapon at them and again officers discharged their guns.

Fatunbi — who was shot four times — dropped onto the first-floor landing area with the shotgun at his side.

The police then gave him emergency first aid that saved his life. He was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries to his stomach, both thighs and left calf.

Fatunbi was wanted by police due to his being part of a gun-toting gang who forced the occupants of a parked Range Rover out of the car on Woodberry Down Estate in Finsbury Park at about 10.50pm on March 19, 2018.

The robbers had arrived in a Nissan Primera. One man pointed a shotgun at the Range Rover’s windscreen. A second firearm was produced before the group drove off with both vehicles.

The Nissan was found abandoned two miles away in Lordship Lane. It was found to be registered to Fatunbi’s family. Armed officers raced to the suspect’s home address in Mandeville Street. But Fatunbi refused to surrender and opened fire on police.

Scotland Yard said no firearms officers were injured. A search of Fatunbi’s flat uncovered two further live shotgun cartridges. Detective Constable Chris Williams, from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime Command, said: “The outcome of this incident could have been even more serious.

“Having committed a violent robbery, Fatunbi threatened the police officers who were trying to arrest him and it is hugely fortunate that there was no loss of life that night.”

Chief Superintendent Andy Walker, from the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command, said: “Our armed officers put themselves in harm’s way on a daily basis to keep people safe from the most dangerous individuals.

“On this occasion, they responded with remarkable tenacity and immense bravery to track down a particularly violent criminal and stop him from harming anyone else.”

Fatunbi was convicted of one count of attempted murder, one count of possessing a firearm and two counts of robbery.

He was jailed for life with a minimum term of 12 years at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday.
